The Starfield Constellation faction is one of the most important in the game. The intrepid space explorer group is integral to the main campaign of Bethesda Game Studios’ open-world space adventure.

Here’s an overview of the Constellation faction, and everything you need to know about the group. To start you stellar journey properly, be sure to check out our Starfield tips and tricks, where to get Digipicks, how to pick locks, the best Starfield reactor, and the best Starfield spacesuits.

Who are Constellation in Starfield?

Constellation are the first major faction you’ll meet and join in Starfield. Established around 140 years before the events of the game, they’re a group of explorers and scientists, interested in unravelling the mysteries of the universe and expanding mankind’s knowledge of the stars and all the secrets they hold. They hold something of a mythical status in the present-day setting of Starfield, especially compared to some of the other factions in the galaxy.

Unlike other factions, which are more focused on matters of money, diplomacy, or being straight-up space pirates, Constellation are the last group of space explorers with a rather noble mission. Joining them means being a part of that, and the main story is very much centred around getting to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the artefact you’ll uncover in the early hours of the game.

Where are Constellation located?

You can find Constellation alongside another of game’s major factions, the United Colonies, in the city of New Atlantis. Located on the planet Jemison, in the Alpha Centauri system, it’s one of the biggest cities in the Settled Systems.

Who are members of Constellation?

The modern Starfield Constellation faction is relatively small, and includes several companions who can recruit and romance. Here are all the Constellation members:

  • Barrett – An adventurer and explorer, and one of the first characters you’ll meet.
  • Matteo – Constellation’s resident theologian, who’s certain that there’s ‘something else’ out there in the depths of the cosmos.
  • Noel – A gifted scientist. Also Sarah’s apprentice.
  • Sarah Morgan – The faction’s confident and charismatic leader.
  • Sam Coe – A former mercenary and adventurer, self-described as a former space cowboy”
  • Vasco – An early model exploration robot made by the Lunar Robotics Company.
  • Vladimir – An ex-pirate currently employed by Constellation.
  • Walter – Constellation’s financier, and self-styled ‘very successful businessman.’

Can I join Constellation in Starfield?

Yes, you can join Constellation in Starfield, and in fact you’ll join by default. This is because Constellation are tied to the main story of the game. You’ll join the faction as a result of the campaign after reaching their headquarters on New Atlantis, after you pick up a mysterious alien artifact that the faction is investigating, and start having cryptic visions. Many of the game’s main quests are centred around this artifact and Constellation’s research.

That’s everything you’ll need to know about the Starfield Constellation faction, from their origins and mission statement to their members and how to join them. There’s plenty of other factions you can join in Starfield. If you’re looking for a breakdown of some of them, like the Starfield Freestar Collective faction, or all of them in a Starfield factions list, we’ve got you covered.
