There is a two-way tie at the top of the FC 24 Best CBs list. Premier League stars Ruben Dias and Virgil van Dijk share an 89 OVR, making them the highest-rated central defenders in the game. However, the Manchester City man has the potential to go one better, up to a 90 OVR! He is still relatively young for a centre-back, at 26, meaning you can go plenty of seasons with him at the heart of your defence.

Virgil van Dijk – 89 Overall

The Dutchman is still regarded as the best CB to use in-game, although he is already at the peak of his powers. Nevertheless, you should still be able to get three or four seasons out of him at his best. Virgil van Dijk is so dominant physically, in the air, and when tackling, he can sometimes prove impossible to pass! Importantly, the Liverpool man has the Aerial+, Anticipate, Bruiser, Block, and Jockey PlayStyles, making him a unit at the back.

Ronald Araujo – 86 Overall

Barcelona colossus Ronald Araujo received a big upgrade this season and has the best potential of anyone in the position, with a 91 POT. He is certainly one for the future, but is good enough to start for nearly any team in the land too!

Jules Kounde – 85 Overall

Araujo’s Barca teammate Jules Kounde is another top player in the position, but can also fill in at RB. Kounde is pacey and has great dribbling abilities for a CB. However, at 5’11”, he isn’t as imposing aerially as others around.

William Saliba – 84 Overall

Arsenal man-mountain William Saliba is another player we want to highlight. At just 22 years old, if you sign him early then he can marshall your defence for over a decade. He has all the attributes you would want for a solid CB and could be the natural successor to van Dijk in the game.
