Best Ships Tier List in Skull and Bones

The rank of each of these ships is determined by how strong it is in battle and how well we believe it performs out in the open seas. Let’s break down each of these ships in order from best to work so you know what you are getting into with each.

Pyromaniac Sambuk

  • Class: Sambuk
  • Size: Medium
  • Role: DPS
  • Hull Health: 35,000
  • Perks: Scorched – Deals 5,000 burning damage when you apply the Ablaze effect to an enemy ship. Ablaze will be applied to enemies in a radius of 150m. Increases damage to ships with the Ablaze effect by 50%.

Starting with the best of the best, the Pyromaniac Sambuk. This ship is one of the best in combat and can stand up to many ships at one time thanks to its brute strength and elemental prowess. The Ablaze effect is a bit overpowered in the game, making the Scorched perk unmatched. This is all the more reason to grind out your duties in the Helm to get enough Pieces of Eight to pay for this ship’s plans.

Bombardier Padewakang

  • Class: Padewakang
  • Size: Medium
  • Role: DPS
  • Hull Health: 37,000
  • Perks: Detonate – Explosive hits have a 70% chance of triggering an explosion, which deals 1,000 damage within a 125m blast radius. Increases to 100% if target ship is Ablaze. Increases damage to structures by 50% and weapon damage radius by 12%

The Bombardier is the second-strongest combat ship with an amazing perk that lets you deal massive damage to ships all around you. When properly equipped, you will be causing explosions with almost every hit and sinking ships faster than you can count them.

Hullbreaker Brigantine

  • Class: Brigantine
  • Size: Medium
  • Role: DPS
  • Hull Health: 40,000
  • Perks: Bullhorn – Increases damage from ramming by 45% and reduces the duration of the Torn Sails effect by 80%. Applies the Flooded effect to an enemy ship upon ramming.

The Hullbreaker encourages you to get reckless and ram enemy ships. Doing so will give them the Flooded effect which decreases a ship’s speed and causes damage over time. This means that you can easily swing the ship around and hit your enemy again without worrying about getting hit as much. As a bonus, this ship has one of the best hull healths in the game.

Vanguard Snow

  • Class: Snow
  • Size: Medium
  • Role: Tank
  • Hull Health: 50,000
  • Perks: Tenacity – Recovers Brave Strength by 4% per second, while bracing increases Brace Strength by 50% and Brace Strength Recovery by 150%.

The Vanguard Snow is amazing for its defensive capabilities. If you are great at timing when to brace yourself for an attack and would rather hunker down than keep moving, this ship will get you through the fight. It is good for drawing attention but requires a little extra work to get the damage output that the ships above have.

Firebrand Barge

  • Class: Barge
  • Size: Small
  • Role: DPS
  • Hull Health: 27,000
  • Perks: Wildfire – Applying the Ablaze effect to a ship will apply the same effect to all enemies in a radius of 125m. Increases weapon damage by 20%. Burning Damage increases Ablaze charge speed by 150%.

If you are a fan of fire but haven’t unlocked the stronger ships yet, the Firebrand is one of the best to use. The effect of this ship will allow you to burn every ship in the surrounding area. Thanks to the wildfire perk, it is basically like having a miniature Sambuk. The only downside is the smaller hull health amount.

Blaster Sloop

  • Class: Sloop
  • Size: Small
  • Role: DPS
  • Hull Health: 25,000
  • Perks: Outburst – Explosive hits have a 50% chance of triggering an explosion, which health 1,500 damage within a blast radius of 150m. Increases damage to structures by 40% and explosive damage by 15%.

The Blaster Sloop has a very poor hull health that ultimately can get it destroyed quickly if you aren’t careful. That being said, the explosive ability of this ship is only outmatched by the Bombardier. You can easily stand toe-to-toe with multiple foes using this ship as long as you are careful and equip it correctly.

Rammer Bedar

  • Class: Bedar
  • Size: Small
  • Role: DPS
  • Hull Health: 22,000
  • Perks: Lancer – Increases damage from ramming by 25% and reduces the slowing effect of Torn Sails by 50%. Applies the Flooded effect to an enemy ship upon ramming.

When used correctly, the Rammer is a very strong early-game ship that can take down other vessels quickly. You can usually take down larger ships if you play fast and aggressively, ramming them at the start of combat so they become flooded.

Sentinel Cutter

  • Class: Cutter
  • Size: Small
  • Role: Support
  • Hull Health: 21,000
  • Perks: Unburden – Restores severe damage by 0.5% and Hull Health by 0.5% per second. Restores Hull Health of all friendly ships in a 100m radius of a repaired target by 2%. Restores 60% more of Hull Health on a friendly ship while using a Repair Weapon.

The Sentinel Cutter is a ship that we don’t really recommend. Thanks to it being a support ship, you will mostly want to use it when playing with others. Using this ship by yourself won’t help you in combat and its healing ability can be replaced by furniture.

Defender Hulk

  • Class: Hulk
  • Size: Small
  • Role: Tank
  • Hull Health: 30,000
  • Perks: Ironclad – Reduces Brace Strength depletion by 20% when hit. Increases Brace Strength by 250% and Brace Strength Recovery by 25%.

Just like the Sentinel, the Defender Hulk isn’t a ship that is worth getting in the early game. If you can, we recommend that you skip both the level two ships and jump immediately to the Firebrand. If you do go with the Defender, you will have a tougher time thanks to the need to get better weapons to match stronger ships.
