Want to get Destiny 2 Glimmer fast? Glimmer is one of the most foundational currencies in Bungie Studios’ space-faring FPS. With the upcoming departure of Legendary Shards, its usefulness is only set to increase. While it’s easy to come by in small amounts, it’s even easier to blow through your limited stockpiles in no time. That raises an obvious question of course: how do you get Destiny 2 Glimmer fast?

Here, we’re exploring exactly that. We’ll explain the best methods available for you to get Destiny 2 Glimmer fast and replenish your bank account in no time. If you’re struggling with picking up other, rarer resources in the game too, like Deepsight Harmonizer, Exotic Ciphers, or Ascendant Shards, we can help you out in some of our additional guides.

Our best ways to get Glimmer in Destiny 2

Here are our top four strategies for farming Glimmer as fast as possible.

  1. Use Rainmaker consumables.
  2. Sell materials to Rahool.
  3. Complete Legend Lost Sectors, Heroic Public Events, and other farmable activities.
  4. Put Glimmer mods on your Ghost.

Let’s explain each method in a bit more detail, and how they can help you collect more of the little blue cubes.

Using Rainmaker consumables

The Rainmaker consumable has been in the game for some time, but you may have noticed you don’t pick them up anymore. That’s because the consumable has been phased out. However, this doesn’t mean any remaining Rainmaker consumables in your inventory are useless. Whereas popping one on used to boost your Glimmer acquisition, consuming one now will simply give a lump sum of Glimmer. This can be a great way to make some cash quickly, but of course it isn’t a sustainable method.

Destiny 2 best ways to get Glimmer fast: Rahool's materials exchange menu.

Sell materials to Rahool

If you’ve got an abundance of materials on you, you might be able to sell some of them to Rahool in the Tower by navigating to his Materials Exchange menu. Head to page one, where he offers exchanges for rare materials like Enhancement Cores. At the top, you’ll be able to hand in materials like Legendary Shards and Herealways Pieces for 10,000 Glimmer each. On page two, you can sell Resonant and Ascendant alloys, assuming you’re not crafting a lot of weapons. This is a great way to get Glimmer in Destiny 2 if you’ve got more world materials than you know what to do with.

Complete Legend Lost sectors, Heroic Public Events and other farmable activities

In the end, it may come down to some good old fashioned grinding to get all the Glimmer you want. If that’s the case, we suggest starting out with solo Legend Lost Sectors. They’re pretty fast, not too challenging once you’re at the pinnacle cap, and reward you generously. As well as raw Glimmer, you’ll often get plenty of powerful rewards; in fact solo Legend Lost sectors are among the best ways to get exotics. If you find yourself without need for some of these precious items, you can always dismantle them for a quick bit of the blue stuff.

Heroic Public Events are another way to get a good amount of Glimmer. They too are pretty quick, though markedly easier than solo Legend Lost Sectors. To get a Public Event into Heroic mode, you’ll usually need to complete a special, unspoken, but often simple task. This will usually then spawn a new boss and make the event more challenging, but reward you with larger amounts of low-tier loot at the end, including plenty of Glimmer.

Standard Strikes, PvP matches, Gambit, and other quick activities are also all efficient ways to grind for Glimmer.

Destiny 2 best ways to get Glimmer fast: The Glimmer Booster mods on a Ghost Shell.

Put Glimmer mods on your Ghost

On the face of it, Ghost shells might seem like an innocuous cosmetic choice, but they do have some limited utility in-game. The Glimmer Booster mods allow you to increase the percentage of Glimmer you’ll earn from certain activities. They run all the way from the Meagre Glimmer mod, which offers a 5% Glimmer increase, to the Ultimate Glimmer mod, which grants a massive 65% increase. Keep in mind that just like Armor Charge and mods, you’ve only got so much energy available in your Ghost Shell, so stacking these mods is limited.

That covers all of the best ways to get Glimmer in Destiny 2. Once you’re ready to spend it, why not look at picking up some of the game’s best PvE weapons like Quicksilver Storm and Centrifuse before the Final Shape release date arrives?
