The new campaign for Destiny 2 has been revealed from Bungie as a thrilling new expansion to start off the 6th year of the series. As each expansion is released, the closer we get to the end of the Light and Darkness Saga. So what is Lightfall introducing to Destiny 2?

In the previous expansion The Witch Queen, there have already been a few reveals of what is ahead for Lightfall, and a sneak peek of our upcoming enemies. If you have already finished the story of Witch Queen, then you already know who to expect to be your new nemesis, namely The Witness.

Let’s take a closer look at the newly revealed expansion, Lightfall, and see what the future has in store for our journey in Destiny.

What do we know about Destiny 2: Lightfall?

Lightfall had originally been revealed through a new trailer by Bungie, following the end of The Witch Queen. However, another teaser has been released during The Game Awards 2022 showing players what they can expect with the new campaign. Check it out for yourself below.

This expansion is bringing many new exciting features such as new Worlds, Subclass, Raid, Exotics, and much more. Let’s dive deeper into each category to see what we know so far:

New World

The theme of Lightfall brings us to a heavily cyberpunk atmosphere, with tall skyscrapers and a vast city full of neon colors with everything technologically advanced. Yes, we are traveling to Neptune, with apparently an unknown city (until now) known as Neomuna.

In Neomuna you will meet Cloud Striders, fight to defeat the Shadow Legion, and prevent the destruction of the newly revealed metropolis.

New Subclass

It is not just any subclass, since the Light has seemed to run away from your grasp, a new Dark Subclass has emerged called the Strand. With Strand, you will be able to pluck your way through the city’s gridlines, using grapple hooks and much more. Depending on your chosen class (Titan, Warlock, or Hunter) your abilities will be molded specialized just for you.

New Raid & Dungeons

Lightfall has revealed a new Raid and Dungeons in Destiny 2, where you will be able to fight new enemies and receive extremely rare new exotic weapons, and much more. There are not many details about the Raid as of yet, but there has been speculation about the release of the new Dungeons in Season 21 and Season 23. In order to access them, though, you will need to acquire the Dungeon key from the Lightfall Annual Pass Bundle.

New Weapon

Quicksilver Storm, is an Exotic Weapon that seems to have fallen into Guardian’s hands from the Cloud Striders. This weapon is crafted to be from an Auto Rifle to a Rocket Launcher that turns into a Grenade Launcher. This weapon can actually be unlocked instantly as soon as you pre-order the Lightfall + Annual Pass. There are so many more interesting Exotics and new weapons to be revealed as well as the expansion’s release gets closer to date.

Is Lightfall the end of Destiny 2?

No, Lightfall will not be the end of Destiny 2, only added as another expansion to the story.

Bringing back many unanswered questions since Destiny 1, Bungie is attempting to fulfill their promise of a wave of all of the final answers every Destiny fan has searched for. There have been rumors of a possible finale of the Destiny 2 expansion known as the Final Shape. Whether or not it concludes the Light and Dark Saga, we still are awaiting the answers.

What we know so far is that each expansion is bringing us closer to the end, and the Final Shape will definitely be a climatic era for Destiny 2.

How much is Lightfall?

You can pre-order Lightfall already for $50. This is $10 more than the previously released expansion, The Witch Queen. It seems they are trying to make it more and more expensive as players are itching for more answers to the story. Unfortunately, this can cause a lot of frustrations, mainly with the original Destiny fans from 2014. Let’s take a look at what our options are as of now:

Destiny 2 Lightfall Editions

From what has been released so far we have only the base Lightfall DLC for $49.99 and Lightfall + Annual Pass for $99.99. Man, that is an expensive number. Let’s see what else they will bring to the table to maybe entice more to purchase such an extraordinary new output of Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is no doubt heavily anticipated by all Destiny players. With the coming of new enemies and new locations, the possibilities are endless. You may just want to wait to order it from the market until you can catch it in a sale or will have a better bundle opportunity. Either way, it will be really hard to miss this upcoming expansion!
