In Spider-Man 2, Symbiote nests are going to be huge structures left behind in the wake of Venom’s heal the world spree. You’re going to be tasked with taking care of them across New York, returning the city to its natural state.

The concentration of Symbiote nests is concentrated in the northern districts, with a few popping up in the Financial District and Brooklyn too.

Symbiote nests are going to be fairly hard to clear out. The premise is that you need to destroy the nest by placing a sonic blast in the core. This means you need to defend it against enemies for roughly 2 minutes while it sets. If you haven’t already, you might want to gear up on the best abilities, skills, suit tech and gadgets before trying to attempt these.

In order to complete Symbiote nests, you’re going to benefit from playing as Peter Parker, whose anti-venom abilities will help you dominate against the symbiote mobs.

Place sonic disruptors by the Symbiote nest, then get ready to fight against powerful mobs for the next two minutes. This is a great place to level up as you’re going to be fighting against powerful enemies for a while. Once you complete all of the Symbiote nests, you’re going to earn the King in Black suit for Miles Morales, alongside earning the Exterminator trophy.

Symbiote nests are marked on the map with the swirly red icon. In-game, this iconography marks the symbiote – a hive-mind species originating (at least in the comics) from the planet of Klyntar.

How to complete Symbiote nests in Spider-Man 2

Defeating Symbiote nests in SM2 is fairly straightforward. It won’t be quite the same as taking on Hunter Blinds and Hunter Bases, instead it’s going to be a time-based mission where you need to protect a sonic explosive over the Symbiote nest.

Once you’ve planted the explosive, depending on how many ‘nests’ there are, you’re going to have to defend it against Symbiote thralls.

They’re going to act hard and fast, so be prepared to muscle your way against hordes of powerful enemies for a while. You might want to rig yourself up on the best skills and find out how to recharge your gadgets before you commit to fighting them all off. We’d recommend a healthy blend of using gadgets and abilities, though you know you’re only going to be fighting for (at most) 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Once you have defended the sonic explosive for long enough, the Symbiote nest will decompose. Once you have beaten all nests – you’re going to earn the trophy Exterminator.
