At some point in Spider-Man 2, you’re going to want to earn the trophy Soar, which needs you to glide from the Financial District to Astoria using only the web-wings. This is quite tricky, though the use of wind tunnels is permitted – and suggested too!
The web-wings are a new feature in Spider-Man 2. Thanks to the vastly upgraded map, Spider-Man’s stomping ground has now increased nearly double-fold. While the swinging mechanics are even better than the last – as our review has mentioned – it can take a long time traversing distant points on the map. One of those most distant points is from the Financial District to Astoria.
The trophy is a good way to show off the versatility of the game’s new movement mechanics, so let’s go over how you can soar in style.
How to glide from the Financial District to Astoria in Spider-Man 2
Firstly, you’re going to want to head on over to this point in the Financial District. This is pretty much as far in the corner that you need to go, and obviously being closer makes it easier. You could track the wind tunnel to its starting point, though you don’t have to.
Jump out and spread your wings (Press Triangle while in mid-air) and then get into the flow of things. There’s going to be a wind-tunnel right in front of you, so jump in and make sure you’re heading the right direction towards Astoria.
Follow the wind-tunnel for a while, you don’t really have to do anything at all. You’ll soar through Greenwich, before the wind-tunnel ends. Fear not, as there’s going to be a wind turbine which can propel you upwards. Make use of it, then veer right slightly.
How to keep momentum while gliding
If you’re struggling to keep momentum while you’re gliding, drift up and down to keep your speed increasing.
You’re going to feel your momentum slipping slightly, but head between these buildings in Chinatown and then head towards another wind turbine to get some more momentum. Throw yourself into the air, and fly towards the river. You’re going to see a wind tunnel in cutting across the river which you want to head towards.
You’re going to let it take you halfway across the river, before dipping out of it halfway and tacking onto another wind-tunnel that’s headed straight for Astoria.
This is going to take you all the way to Astoria, and you’re going to earn the Soar trophy.
This is one of the easier trophies to earn in Spider-Man 2. If you’re looking for other things to do, you might consider heading over to Aunt May’s grave, finding Miles and Phin’s science trophy and rounding the bases at the Big Apple Ballers Stadium.
