Since releasing at the end of 2023, Lethal Company has become one of the most successful indie games in recent years. And while fans are loving the early access title so far, with a fairly small selection of moons and unique creatures, it’s no surprise that they’re excited to see what comes next for the game, and when.
Luckily, we’ve got plenty of new content in store and semi-regular updates always just over the horizon. That’s why we’ve put together a quick guide to tell you what you need to know about the roadmap for Lethal Company and when you can expect the next update.
When is the next Lethal Company update?
The next content update is set to be Version 51, though we probably won’t receive it until May at the earliest. Version 50, the most recent major content update dropped at the start of April, bringing new maps, new monsters, traps, and more. It’s one of the biggest updates we’ve had since release, and was a long time coming.
Developer Zeekerss has previously announced that they are planning to update the game every week or two, though this has changed recently. Following Version 47, Zeekerss announced “I’m starting to think it may be better for all updates to be bigger and less frequent”.
Instead of smaller, more regular updates, Zeekerss has instead opted to make larger updates to bring much more content into the game. As such, that previous update schedule of every week or two is unfeasible, so it’s probably going to be more like every month or two from now on.
What is in the next Lethal Company update?
At the time of writing, we don’t know much about the dev’s plans for what is coming in the next Lethal Company update. Zeekerss has stated that the aim is to introduce “a nice handful of new things to discover” in every update, so it seems fair to assume we’ll see some new stuff. That could include new creatures, moons and planets, map variations, items, upgrades, or even more computer commands.

We have no specifics on Lethal Company’s roadmap, but future Lethal Company updates are sure to add more items and mechanics into the game as it progresses. Previous updates have included Inverse Teleporters, Radar Boosters, Walkie Talkies, Stun Grenades, and added new monsters and mechanics, so we’re sure to keep seeing more of this as time goes on.
When does Lethal Company leave early access?
Lethal Company’s early access phase was originally scheduled to last six months, ending in April 2024. However, thanks to the game’s unprecedented popularity, that’s changed, and it will likely stay in early access a lot longer.
Zeekerss has said that the release timeline could change based on player feedback and how development progresses. With so many more eyes on the game, and such massive sales, Zeekerss may have more resources to put into the game, and may thus spend more time in early access in order to make a more ambitious full version.
