Is Lethal Company multiplayer?

Yes, Lethal Company is multiplayer, and more specifically, is designed to be played as a multiplayer game. If you’re not super clued up on Lethal Company and how it works, you take control of a member of a set of contracted workers working for the Company to gather valuable scrap to increase the company’s profit quota. While you can set up and host a LAN server to play solo, the game is designed to be played in groups of up to four, so you and your friends can enjoy the game together in co-op.

One major feature of the game is the communication. There is a proximity chat system so you can hear nearby players in-game, while there are also walkie talkies that allow you to communicate over longer distances with your crewmates to help you stay organised.

Since the aim of the game is to gather as much scrap as possible before being killed by whatever creatures are lurking on the moon you’re on, having more players is better. More players means you can find and carry more scrap, making you more money.

If your friends aren’t big into horror games and don’t want to play on your lonesome, there are also plenty of online games being hosted with a matchmaking system that lets you jump into games with random players, potentially making some new friends along the way.

There’s also a MoreCompany mod that can let you create a Lethal Company lobby with an increased player count. The mod theoretically allows for up to 32 player lobbies, but the mod’s creator notnotnotwipez has specified that any more than eight player slots can cause stability issues, so be warned. If you’re interested, you can find this mod on the Thunderstore website.

While Lethal Company might be the biggest of space-themed indies this year, it’s not the biggest space game overall, so check out some of our Starfield guides, like Starfield tips and tricks and our Starfield best reactors guide.
