What is the Bracken in Lethal Company?
Brackens are fairly large, human-like entities covered in spikes and are found indoors. They have glowing white eyes which can be seen in the dark long before you can see the rest of their body. They have high aggression, and their hostility means while you aren’t watching them, they will hunt you down. However, whenever you do spot them, they’ll stop or briefly run away. However, keeping eye contact with them for too long will cause them to attack, killing you instantly, and dragging your body away.
Once a Bracken has killed someone, they will take the corpse to a Bracken room, a specific place in the facility where they store their victims. You can head here to retrieve the body, as once a Bracken makes a kill, they will begin to roam further from this room.
How to avoid the Bracken in Lethal Company
Escaping a Bracken might seem like an impossible task – if you look at them, they kill you, and if you don’t look at them, they kill you. Thankfully, it’s not too hard and just requires a bit of strategy.
If you come across a Bracken, turn sideways so that the creature is just off your screen. This way, you can quickly turn your screen to get a quick glimpse of them and scare them off, but you aren’t looking at them for long enough to be attacked. This gives you enough time to make your escape, and hopefully make it out alive.

If possible, try your best to get through a nearby door and close it behind you. Just make sure that you don’t accidentally lock yourself into a dead end!
Ideally, you’ll be with at least one other person, which can make a Bracken encounter much easier. You can take turns looking at the Bracken, swapping around regularly, making sure that the Bracken never has the chance to move, while also ensuring neither of you is looking for long enough to be attacked.
Can you kill the Bracken in Lethal Company?
You can kill a Bracken, but we would highly recommend just running from them. First things first, you’ll need a Zap Gun or a Stun Grenade to stun the creature for a few seconds, so that it doesn’t kill you while you’re attacking. Next, you’ll need to hit it with a shovel five times. This should deal enough damage.
We would only recommend trying to kill a Bracken as an absolute last resort. In almost all cases, you’re much better off simply running away with what loot you have, or heading to another part of the facility to find scrap metal.
