You’re in the right place if you’re wondering whether Tekken 8 supports ultrawide gaming monitors, because we have all the answers from our own in-house testing.

The short and sweet answer is that, yes, Tekken 8 supports ultrawide gaming monitors in the two most conventional aspect ratios of 21:9 and 38:9. This means that whether you’ve got an elongated screen or a double-wide, you should be covered here. It’s due in part thanks to the game’s stellar optimization. In our testing, we primarily used the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDM, which is one of the best gaming monitors available now.

Tekken 8 should support all conventional resolutions in these form factors. We stuck to 1440p (both 5120 x 1440p and 3440 x 1440p) for our testing, but if you have one of the best 4K gaming monitors you may even be able to output in 5120 x 2160p or even 7680 x 2160p if you have one of the best GPUs on the market. Some gaming monitors, such as the upcoming Acer Predator Z57 are targeting the latter double 4K output.

With the exception of pre-rendered cutscenes and a couple of menus, the vast majority of Tekken 8 runs in both 21:9 and 38:9 ultrawide and super ultrawide respectively. This isn’t an issue unique to this game as the majority of games have footage rendered in 16:9 which is then transposed onto a resolution, but it’s worth noting all the same. The Vs menu, in-game fights, as well as intro and outro cinematics are all supported in ultrawide, and that’s the most important thing.

Unlike some fighting games such as Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken translates considerably better to the wider field of view. This is due to the lack of a conventional super bar which sits at the bottom in those two titles, meaning you have to turn your head to check gauges. In Tekken 8, however, the central UI is compact to the middle of the screen which keeps your eyes squarely in the middle of the action.

What GPU do you need for Tekken 8?

If you want to run Tekken 8 in ultrawide then you’re going to need a fairly powerful graphics card that’s up the task. We recommend the RTX 4070 Ti Super or RTX 4080 if you’re looking to run in 1440p. For 4K, you’re going to ideally want the overhead afforded by the RTX 4090 or RX 7900 XTX as the game is quite demanding.

Does Tekken 8 support DLSS?

Yes, Tekken 8 supports not only Nvidia DLSS but also AMD FSR 1.0 and FS2. Intel Arc users aren’t left out either. The game ships with various XeSS AI upscaling options as well so all bases are covered.
