Tekken 8 stage characteristics

Like in Tekken 7, certain stages have breakable walls, floors, and balconies, which can be used to extend combos and hit some massive damage. There are also some new additions, so you’ll want to know exactly what each one does and how it will affect your matches. Here are all the Tekken 8 stage characteristics:

  • Wall Break
  • Hard Wall Break
  • Floor Break
  • Hard Floor Break
  • Balcony Break
  • Wall Bound
  • Wall Blast
  • Floor Blast

All Tekken 8 stages

There are 16 total stages to choose from in Tekken 8, although a couple of them are reskins with either no, or slight changes to the stage mechanics. Like in Tekken 7, certain stages have breakable walls, floors, and balconies, which can be used to extend combos and hit some massive damage.

Here are all of the stages in Tekken 8:

Arena

Arena is very clearly based on the octagonal rings of the UFC, although is a bit wider than your typical UFC ring to give you more room for those combos. That being said, it’s still not a very big stage, and you’ll have plenty of chances for wall splats and wall combos.

Arena (Underground)

At first glance, this just looks like a reskin of the Arena stage, but it does have one big difference. Four of the eight walls of the ring have the Wall Bound characteristic. When you wall splat your opponent on one of these four walls, they will be sent flying over your head, taking some extra damage and giving you the chance to extend your combo.

Urban Square

Probably the most standard stage in Tekken 8, Urban Square takes place in the middle of New York, and comes in the form of a medium-sized square arena. There are no fancy mechanics at play here, just a plain old Tekken stage for you to fight in.

Urban Square (Evening)

This is just Urban Square but with the sun setting and a warm orange glow over everything. Nice, right?

Yakushima

The first of Tekken 8’s big stages, Yakushima is set on the Japanese island of Yakushima, where Jun and Jin Kazama were born. TTaking place in a pool of clear water surrounded by Japanese cedar trees, it’s both the longest and widest stage in the game. You better bring those wall carry combos, otherwise you’re not seeing that wall for a while.

Coliseum of Fate

Set in Rome, but not in the actual Colosseum (unless it’s been renovated), Coliseum of Fate is the next big stage. It’s a big, Roman-style colosseum with fans in the seats cheering you on. It’s not as big as Yakushima, but it’s still pretty large and will take some good wall carry combos to consistently reach the wall here.

Rebel Hangar

The base of operations for Yggdrasil, the Rebel Hangar starts off on an average-sized raised platform. But after a Balcony Break to the north, you drop down to a slightly larger area with Wall Blasts on either side. Hitting your opponent into one of these walls causes an explosion, damaging them and blasting them back towards you, letting you continue your combo.

Fallen Destiny

Another fairly standard stage, Fallen Destiny takes place on a volcanic rock in the ocean, in the midst of storms and tornadoes. A bit longer and narrower than Urban Square, it’s also not got any special characteristics, just a cool-looking stage, plain and simple.

Descent Into Subconscious

Descent Into Subconscious is probably the most visually striking stage of all. You start off in a small square stage surrounded by floating lanterns and blue flames. With a Hard Floor Break, requiring you to use a floor-breaking move twice, you drop into a slightly larger octagonal stage seemingly set in the floating ruins of a gothic mansion.

One more regular Floor Break, and you drop into a massive, almost-square stage set in a Death Valley-eqsue desert, dotted with dead trees, strange statues, and chains everywhere.

Sanctum

Located in the Sanctum on Yakushima island, Sanctum starts off as a standard rectangular stage, but has a Hard Wall Break on either side, requiring two wall splats to break, which open the stage up to be a fair bit longer.

On the final round, both players drop down to a new area, a short but very wide stage with normal Wall Breaks at either end of the long stretch, giving you more combo opportunities and making the stage even longer.

Into the Stratosphere

Taking place on a rock falling to Earth from space, Into the Stratosphere is a medium-sized, octagonal stage with no characteristics. In the final round, the stage will change to be slightly more rectangular, with a floor blast that damages players and sends up flying in the air for a chance at a combo extension.

Ortiz Farm

Azucena’s stage, Ortiz Farm takes place in a Macchu Picchu-esque village in the Andes. Starting in a rectangular area, a Balcony Break to the north takes you into a slightly larger area. A Floor Break here drops you both down into a small octagonal room filled with treasure chests. Every wall in this room is a Wall Bound which will send your opponent flying over your head with a wall splat.

Celebration on the Seine

Victor’s stage, Celebration on the Seine takes place on a ship sailing down the famous river in the centre of Paris. While the setting is spectacular, the stage itself is nothing special, with an almost square area and no special characteristics.

Tekken 8 stages: The Secluded Training Ground stage in the stage select screen

Secluded Training Ground

A seemingly new version of the Mishima Dojo in Tekken 7, this stage has had some renovations done. Starting off in a rectangular area, both sides of the stage have three (that’s right, three) Wall Breaks, opening the stage up to be one of the longest, and narrowest, in the game.

Tekken 8 stages: The Elegant Palace stage in the stage select screen

Elegant Palace

Exactly what it sounds like, Elegant Palace is an elegant palace. A Hard Wall Break in the main room of the palace opens up to the balcony, where a Balcony Break leads down into the garden area of the stage. Here, a rectangular area has two Wall Bounds on either side to help you extend those combos.

Tekken 8 stages: The Midnight Siege stage in the stage select screen

Midnight Siege

Last, but not least, Midnight Siege is located in the bombed-out ruins of a building. An average-sized rectangular stage, the entire northern wall of the stage has the Wall Blast characteristic, offering great damage opportunities if you can manage to get your opponent into it.

That’s it for all of the Tekken 8 stages. We might get some more in future with the Tekken 8 DLC along with some new characters. And if you’re looking for the full Tekken 8 character list, we have you covered there too.
