Looking to respec in Lies of P? Respeccing characters is a common staple in RPGs and Souls-likes, and Neowiz’s latest Pinocchio-inspired title is no exception. The mechanic is a great way to try out or tweak new builds, swapping out things that weren’t working for you in favour of stats, upgrades and abilities that more accurately fit your playstyle.

Here, we’re going to cover how to respec in Lies of P, what you can change, what it costs, and what happens when you do. If you’re looking to fine tune your playstyle, make sure you’ve got all the information you need on the best weapon combos, best boss weapons, how to get more pulse cells and more.

How to respec Pinocchio in Lies of P

To respec your character, you need to interact with the Saintess of Mercy statue in the Grand Exhibition building, or the Gold Coin Fruit tree at Hotel Krat. Approach the statue and press the interact key. This building is in chapter 7 of the game, and requires a key to unlock. You can also use the Gold Coin Fruit tree itself, which you’ll be able to access after chapter 5. Respeccing at either location costs a special currency – Gold Coin Fruit – to do.

You can respec the following different aspects separately.

  • Level – each level up and consequent stat point will be refunded.
  • Legion Arm Calibre – each upgrade level you’ve unlocked in a Legion Arm will be refunded.
  • P-Organs – each upgrade you’ve unlocked in the P-Organ skill tree will be refunded.

Keep in mind that each time you respec one of these aspects, following respecs for the same aspect will cost a greater number of Gold Coin Fruits.

How to get to the Saintess of Mercy Statue

To get to the Saintess of Mercy Statue and unlock respecing, you’ll first need to reach chapter 7 of the game. Follow the level path and you’ll come to the Grand Exhibition building. Head inside until you reach the Gondola exhibition, and nearby you’ll find a locked door on the left. Champion Victor drops the key that opens this door, so getting inside shouldn’t be too complicated. You’ll find the statue once you’ve opened this door.

How to get Gold Coin Fruit Tree

As of patch 1.2.0.0, it’s no longer mandatory to go to the Saintess of Mercy Statue to respec. You can also do it from the Gold Coin Fruit Tree itself. You’ll still need to pick up Gold Coin Fruit currency either way, which you can get from this same tree.

To reach the tree, you need to beat the Black Rabbit Brotherhood in Malum District first. After you defeat them, head through into the Malum District Town Hall and follow the level path, taking the elevator up. It’ll loop around to a new courtyard outside of Hotel Krat, which contains the Gold Coin Fruit Tree. Once you’ve run through this courtyard, it’ll also open up a secret shortcut back into the hotel, making it a bit more convenient to return there in the future.

What does respeccing your character do?

Respecing your character will effectively reset your levelling-up and upgrade progress and put your character back to their state in the beginning of the game. It will also refund you the full cost of resources spent to level up, allowing you to reallocate those resources in a different way.

What does resetting your level do?

Resetting your level will revert your stats to those of whichever starting class you chose at the beginning of the game, as well as give you back all of the total Ergo you spent to earn those levels. You can then redistribute your stats however you like.

What does resetting your Legion Arm Calibre do?

Resetting your Legion Arm will reset a specifically selected Legion Arm’s upgrades back to its base status, and refund you the Legion Arm Calibre items you used to upgrade it. For example, if you reset a level three Flamberge arm, it’ll lose its Flame Explosion, Strengthen Combustion, and Wave of Fire upgrades, but you’ll get your six Legion Calibres you invested back.

What does resetting your P-Organ do?

P-Organs act as your main skill tree upgrade system, but fortunately, resetting it isn’t as complex as using the system itself. A reset will undo all of your unlocked upgrades, setting you back to Phase One of the tree. It will also refund all of your Quartz that you spent during the upgrade process.

Should you respec in Lies of P?

Lies of P is a very difficult game, even by Souls-like standards. With many tough bosses, from the Scrapped Watchman to Fallen Archbishop Andreus, it can sometimes seem overwhelming. On rare occasion, small imperfections in need of polish, as we noted in our Lies of P review, can make for frustrating encounters, and this is even more so the case the later into the game you go.

What this means is that, for many players, respeccing is definitely a worthwhile investment. You have different builds, weapons and and stats to use when crafting something that works best for your playstyle. Not to mention that systems like the P-Organ upgrades include some deceptively useful upgrades like enhanced dodges that you can easily miss out on. If you’re struggling to find your groove in your current build and the game is dragging, try testing out some new playstyles. It won’t make the game a walk in the park, but it could drastically alter your ability to play comfortably.

That covers everything you need to know about how to respec in Lies of P, what the system involves, and if it’s worth the effort. If you’re looking for something more relaxing in the game, there are plenty of side quests. Wondering where to find the Archbishop’s Holy Mark, how to complete Toma’s quest, or where to find the entrance and the key to 221b Boulevard refuge? Or maybe you just want some more general tips and tricks? We’ve covered all those and more in further Lies of P guides.
