For those who may have unravelled the start of the mystery already and want to head straight to the house, here is the path you need to take to reach 221b Boulevard.

• Reach the House on Elysion Boulevard Stargazer.
• From here, head forward out the open wooden door.
• Turn left and cross the narrow metal beam.
• The door for 221b will be directly on your left, wedged between two large windows.

Because of its unassuming nature and placement, it’s surprisingly easy to miss. You can also use the photograph from the postcard you pick up to find this spot. Keep in mind that you’ll need to have picked up this postcard first, as it also contains the key to open the door. If you’ve not had luck finding it, read on.

How to find the Refuge’s Address postcard and the Cryptic Vessel explained

To find the Refuge’s Address postcard, which contains the key for 221b, you’re first going to need to locate the Cryptic Vessel. In our playthrough for our Lies of P review, we completed the following steps first before retrieving the postcard itself. But if you want to try and claim the postcard and skip these steps, it might be possible to do so, though we can’t be certain.

First of all you need to find the Cryptic Vessel, a special encoding device invented by Italian accent enthusiast Venigni. The one you’re looking for can be found in St Frangelico’s cathedral. It’s the first step needed to reach 221b Boulevard.

How to get the Cryptic Vessel for 221b Boulevard

Head to St Frangelico Cathedral. You’ll need to make your way through the main section of the gauntlet along the wooden beams and up the ladders as you climb the tower towards the Library.

At the top, you’ll find a section with two rotating wooden wheels leading to a door on the far side, and a shortcut-opening lever to the left of it. Through the door is a powerful decayed monster. Before running all the way across, make the first jump and approach the lit brazier perched near the edge of the middle platform. You’ll be able to interact with it, and push it down over the edge.

Doing this will vaporise the stagnant pool of decay water that was at the bottom of the gauntlet section, revealing a hidden path below. Return to the bottom of the gauntlet, go down the new staircase at the bottom, and open the door. This will take you into a room with a chest, which has the Cryptic Vessel you’re looking for inside.

How to decode the Cryptic Vessel

To decode the Vessel, head back to Hotel Krat. Speak with Venigni, and he’ll offer to decode it for you after a dialogue exchange. This will also unlock his ability to open up future Vessels you may find.

Once opened, you’ll get a new item under your notes tab in your inventory. If you read it, it’ll tell you to head to Alchemist’s Bridge, and throw something at the puppet.

Finding the Refuge’s Address postcard

Head to Alchemist’s Bridge, the place where you first met Gepetto. Strung up by wires at the entrance is a broken puppet. You can lock on if you look up at it. Then just throw one of any throwable projectile you might have in your inventory. You can do this by assigning it to a belt and using the interact button. Throwing something at the puppet will cause an item to spawn in and fall from the puppet onto the bridge below. Pick this up, and you’ll find it to be the postcard. The card hints at the location of 221b Boulevard in a short message, and also contains the key.

Despite its obvious reference to Sir Arthur Conan Doyal’s Sherlock Holmes, don’t expect to find any detectives inside this 221b. The reference is just that, after all.

What you will find inside 221b Boulevard is a safe, which you can open without a key. Inside you’ll find a new costume, the Owl Doctor’s costume, as well as a piece of Quartz.
