How to prepare for Diablo 4 Season 2?

While you need to create a new Seasonal character when Season 2 drops, you can still do plenty of things to get a headstart in Diablo 4. Season of Blood brings a host of welcome improvements alongside a brand-new seasonal storyline. This involves Diablo 4 Erys as she hunts down vampire forces. You’ll eventually have to face Lord Zir, Season of Blood’s primary antagonist. The endgame has also been reworked, featuring new Diablo 4 Season 2 endgame bosses.

The season will last for three months but there’s plenty you can do before that to prepare for Diablo 4 Season 2. We’ve prepared a handy checklist based on our time with the game. And if you’re wondering if the campaign is worth the hype, check out our Diablo 4 review.

Diablo 4 Season 2 checklist

Here are the things you can do beforehand to make the most of your Diablo 4 Season 2 experience:

Finish the campaign to skip it in Season 2

While you can now skip the campaign in Diablo 4 after the Prologue, the campaign is worth the effort. All the Diablo 4 acts are packed with one of the series’ best stories, complete with narrative arcs and unique monsters. You get to interact with some incredible characters and beat the big baddie Lilith herself. This is also an opportunity to explore the map and discover the world of Sanctuary by yourself or with friends. After that, you can start Seasonal content with your new Seasonal character and skip the campaign. This also ties into the next point.

Unlock your mount via a quest

Getting a Diablo 4 mount is essential to traversing the massive world of Sanctuary. This side quest in the campaign lets you quickly explore the Diablo 4 map. This will save you a lot of time, especially while traveling around for endgame events like Legion events, Grim Favors, and Diablo 4 Helltides for Helltide chests. This ties into the next point in the Diablo 4 Season 2 checklist.

Explore the entire map and find all Altars of Lilith

Exploring Sanctuary and finding Altars of Lilith raise your Diablo 4 renown. The latter also offer stat boosts to all of your characters. With 160 Altars of Lilith to find, it can take a while. But in Season 2, your renown is transferred to your Seasonal character too. This means that renown rewards like bonus skill points, paragon points, potion charges, and obol capacity upgrades can be earned before Season of Blood hits PCs and consoles.

Finish side quests

Finishing side quests in Diablo 4 also grants renown, making it a useful task to perform. Here’s the Diablo 4 quest list so that you have a better idea of what’s left. Note that seasonal quests do not offer renown in Diablo 4.

Pick a new class and build before Season 2

If you’ve scoured through Sanctuary and its secrets as a minion-training Necromancer, why not learn how to berserk as a Barbarian in Diablo 4? Or optimize Diablo 4 Spirit Boons with a flashy Pulverize Druid build. Each Season and its balance changes are an opportunity to try out one of Diablo 4’s five classes: Rogue, Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorcerer, and Druid. The game’s new vampiric powers tie into these classes well too. Explore these bonuses and synergies by wearing the right Diablo 4 vampiric pact armor.

That rounds up our Diablo 4 Season 2 checklist. Be prepared to take on all sorts of new foes by getting the right experience beforehand. This lets you quickly enter Season 2’s reworked endgame content like Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons. You can also learn about the game’s many resources like Diablo 4 Sigil Powder

As a vampire hunter, you’ll have to look for Diablo 4 unique items and uber uniques at higher World Tier difficulties by clearing the Capstone Dungeon as a new Seasonal character. The new season also brings changes like new bosses (Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint), the Blood harvest activities, and the Diablo 4 Potent Blood mechanic.

While some Diablo 4 battle pass tiers net you Platinum that can be used for future purchases, it’s tough to finish Season of the Malignant before Season 2. As for the seasonal questline, the only things you can carry forward are the ‘Malignant’ and ‘Purifier’ titles. Season of Blood drops this October on PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5), and Xbox Series X|S.
