What is Renown in Diablo 4?
Renown is a region progression system that awards points and renown rewards for exploring and completing specific side activities. You gain them across the game’s five regions: Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, Scosglen, and Hawezar. There are number of tricks you can use to earn large boosts to your current renown.
How to get renown points in Diablo 4
Renown points are awarded for completing set tasks in each region of Diablo 4. Here’s a list of all activities that reward points and their renown value. The best way to get renown points is to beat strongholds, which reward you 100 Points. You can also complete dungeons, unlock new areas, take part in short side quests and get other renown boosts from completing various activities in the world. Here’s the complete break down for you:
- Unlocking Waypoints – 20 points
- Beating Strongholds – 100 Points
- Completing Side Quests – 20
- Areas Discovered – 5 points
- Completing Dungeons – 30 points
- Unlocking Altars of Lilith – 10 points
You can check your progress at any time by tapping the Tab button to bring up the Region Progress screen, where you’ll find a breakdown of total renown earned, renown granting activities, and reward tiers. Note that rewards aren’t handed out automatically and need to be claimed by tapping the red ‘claim’ button on the Region Progress screen.
Diablo 4 renown reward tiers
Collecting a set amount of renown points unlocks a reward tier. These contain various rewards ranging from potion capacity upgrades and skill points, Murmuring Obols, and Paragon Points. A portion of these rewards can be claimed by each character while others are awarded to all characters on a realm, or in other words, across all characters on a specific account. Note that the Tier 4 and Tier 5 rewards are only available if you’re playing on the more challenging World Tier 3. Here’s a breakdown of each reward tier and the renown points needed to unlock each one:
- Tier 1 – 200 renown points – bonus XP, 3,000 gold, and +1 skill point.
- Tier 2 – 300 renown points – bonus XP, 10,000 gold, and +1 potion capacity.
- Tier 3 – 400 renown points – bonus XP, 25,000 gold, and +1 skill point.
- Tier 4 – 400 renown points – bonus XP, 60,000 gold, and +80 max obols.
- Tier 5 – 500 renown points – bonus XP, 150,000 gold, and +4 Paragon points.
Bonus XP and gold are granted for your character, while skill points, potion capacity, obols, and Paragon points are account-wide rewards, becoming available on all your characters. All of these are a big boost to character power, so it’s well worth chasing that next renown stage if you’re close to it.
