NBA 2K24’s most popular mode is probably MyPLAYER or MyCAREER. In these, players get to be their own NBA star. The kids who once dreamed of hitting game-winning shots for their favorite teams can do so now, albeit in virtual fashion since most of us didn’t make it to the league. Nevertheless, these modes grant players the ability to create their own player. If they wanted to be a 7’2″ center or a 6’7″ point guard or anything else in the conceivable world, they can with the NBA 2K24 MyPLAYER creator. Here are the best builds to make use of this tool with.

NBA 2K24 builds list: Best builds for all positions

Point guards need to be good at a few things. They need to be able to score from pretty much anywhere on the court with limitless range and spot-up precision. Passing the ball isn’t the vital skillset it used to be for the position, but it is something that helps point guards and is a nice ability to have in the back pocket. Therefore, pass accuracy and passing-related badges (think Dimer) can be an underrated addition.

Zach’s Tips

Point guard is the most popular position on the floor. They get to handle the ball and are often the best and most important players on the court. As a result, most 2K24 players choose this one. Thus, it is vital to pick the right build. The game has changed a lot, so the build we’ve laid out is perfect for the modern game.

Ball handling is still very important. The ability to break a defense down off the dribble with good handles is paramount to a guard’s success. Given how often guards get fouled, a high free throw rating is vital for the best point guard build. Those things will make you a good point guard if that’s the position you’ve chosen. It’s the most popular since it means you get to handle the ball and run the offense. The best dribble moves are helped by this build.

In terms of size, a good PG build would be someone with these physical attributes:

  • Height: 6’4″
  • Weight: 200 lbs
  • Wingspan: 6’8″

As a point guard, you want to be able to defend the ball, which requires a little bit of size and length. However, you don’t want to be too big as smaller, quicker guards would have a bit of an advantage. You can be smaller and quicker than your opponent if you want, but it does add a significant challenge on the defensive end.

Shooting guards, as the name suggests, need to be able to shoot the ball from everywhere on the court, perhaps even more so than a point guard. All shooting stats should be high. Being a good defender is key as well. They often guard the opponent’s best player, so it’s good to be able to hold your own. Size is a little more important for them than a point guard, so here’s the best shooting guard build:

  • Height: 6’6″
  • Weight: 230 lbs
  • Wingspan: 6’11”

This position is among the most important on the floor, and size is valuable here. They can be much bigger than a point guard, but being too tall will have the same issue of being too big and too slow. In my playthrough, I prioritized size in the build. I am a shooting guard at the above metrics, so I am tall enough and have good length. This also helps me on defense, as I can deflect passes a smaller player might not be able to. This makes me a pretty well-rounded player.

Thus far, it’s extremely useful for with finishing against bigger defenders on driving layups, when I rise up for mid-range shots, defending guards on the perimeter, and grabbing rebounds. We definitely recommend this build for shooting guard, a vital position on the court.

Small forwards have to do it all. They need to rebound, pass, handle the ball, play down low and on the perimeter, defend, and more. The best build for a small forward almost requires a tall setup and a very good vertical, but they also need to be athletic and therefore not weight too much. Thus, the best small forward build looks like this:

  • Height: 6’8″
  • Weight: 246 lbs
  • Wingspan: 7’1″

Few positions require length like the small forward position does. Much like the shooting guard, they will often be tasked with guarding the best player. It’s a small forward’s league right now, and there are a ton of good ones. You have to be able to keep up with them in MyCAREER and be a bit of a lockdown defender. You should be able to anchor the offense and defense, which is a bit unfair. Nevertheless, that’s the life of the modern NBA small forward.

They also need to have good driving dunk, stamina, steal, acceleration, and contact dunk attributes. Think LeBron James, as there’s a reason he is the highest-rated small forward in the game. Perimeter defense is key, as are all defensive capabilities.

Power forwards need to be able to stretch the floor in the modern NBA, so a three-point shot is just as key as being a posterizer is. The best power forward build in MyCAREER mode has a good standing dunk, as well all the physicals. Being strong enough to guard a center down low while also being able to step out on the perimeter and shut down a forward is pretty vital, so this is the best build:

  • Height: 6’10”
  • Weight: 264 lbs
  • Wingspan: 7’4″

Power forwards are often needed to guard positions one through five, so consider what they might have to do when selecting a power forward build. They also often play backup center, so size is important. But in big lineups, they might be the small forward, so athleticism is necessary. They have a delicate balancing act, and this build will help achieve that.

Centers were a dying breed in the NBA, but they’ve been reborn thanks to a few things that you have to consider when building one for NBA 2K. You don’t see a back-to-the-basket playmaker at the position often. The center build for a modern player is more athletic, with a little bit of post control and a lot of defense.

They need to be able to step out and knock down shots to stretch the defense. This isn’t their main job, but it helps. Look at Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, both of whom are capable of shooting and making a three. They need to have that, while also being able to block shots as an anchor for the interior defense, and get offensive rebounds:

  • Height: 7’0″
  • Weight: 280 lbs
  • Wingspan: 7’6″

You can’t teach height, so that should be a big priority for the player who is normally supposed to be the biggest one on the floor. The best center build can’t be small, to say the least. It does make you slower and less agile, but it will pay massive dividends on defense, which is a huge part of a center’s game. Close shot, defensive rebound, and other similar attributes need to be high first and foremost.

The center position has evolved a lot. Modern bigs are very different from the previous bygone era. Size still matters tremendously. Victor Wembanyama wouldn’t be a generational prospect without his size. Joel Embiid wouldn’t be as dominant without his height. Being tall still matters for any and all centers.

With these builds for all NBA 2K24 positions, you can become a Hall of Fame player in no time! Furthermore, a new quest has arisen to make your build a 99-OVR instantly.
