The best point guard in NBA 2K23 was that of Stephen Curry who was rated 96 overall, and lo and behold, he is right back in the number one spot once again in NBA 2K24. Last year NBA 2K23 had a total of five 90+ overall point guards, but this year that has changed to six in NBA 2K24 following two exceptional performances from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Damian Lillard over the 2022-23 campaign.

Although you might feel like we’re seeing a handful of the same players from last year’s Top 10 point guards list, a handful of names are new in NBA 2K24, including both Jamal Murray and DeAaron Fox. On that note, here’s a look at five of the Top 10 point guards in NBA 2K24.

Stephen Curry – 96 overall

Stephen Curry might be 35-years-old but somehow is still playing at an incredible high level that we think will yet again place him as the best point guard in NBA 2K24. After 2K gave Curry a 96 overall rating for his performance over the 2021-22 season, it doesn’t come to much of a surprise that they appointed the star point guard with a 96 overall again this year following the special campaign he had over 2022-23. In just 56 games played in the regular season, Curry scored 29.4 points per game (third highest of his career) on 49.3% shooting from the field and 42.7% from behind the three-point line, while also averaging 6.3 assists and 6.1 rebounds. The man is simply one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game and is back at the number one spot this year.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – 93 overall

Although Gilgeous-Alexander could have been rated higher in NBA 2K24, we think his new 93 overall is a fitting spot considering he was an 87 overall in NBA 2K23 at launch. Gilgeous-Alexander had one special breakout season for the Thunder in 2022-23, illustrating for everyone just how gifted and versatile he truly is. In 68 games played, Gilgeous-Alexander posted 31.4 points per game (4th in the NBA) on 51% shooting from the field, while averaging 5.5 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals. The man was electric last season, proving his worth in a big way that not only saw him become an All Star, but also elected First Team All-NBA. At age 25, it’s scary to think what Gilgeous-Alexander is still capable of achieving, especially with the return of 2022 rookie sensation Chet Holmgren.

Trae Young – 89 overall

The Atlanta Hawks superstar point guard has been a special talent to behold in the NBA, and last season, managed to evolve into an even better version of himself. Though some might focus on the fact that Young only scored 26.2 points on 42.9% shooting from the field last season, which was a step down from what he did in 2021-22, his ability to become a better passer and playmaker was put on full display, highlighting how versatile of a basketball talent he is. In 73 games played, Young also averaged a career high 10.2 assists per game last season (third in the NBA) and 1.1 steals, matching his career high from his 2019-20 season. In all fairness, Young’s new 89 overall is a fitting one. However, it could very well improve over the course of the regular season.

De’Aaron Fox – 88 overall

‘De’Aaron Fox at 88 overall’, some of you might be thinking? Absolutely! The Kings had a very impressive season that led them all the way to the playoffs as a sixth seed, only to lose to the Warriors in a grueling seven-game series. But a big reason why the Kings were as good as they were, was because of their All Star point guard De’Aaron Fox and how well he ran the offense. In 73 games played, Fox scored 25.0 points per game on a career high 51.2 field goal percentage while averaging 6.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds (also a career high), and 1.1 steals. In fact, Fox had such a strong 2022-23 campaign that he was selected to the All NBA Third Team this year. Though it might be high for some, 88 overall is a very suitable rating for Fox.

Jamal Murray – 88 overall

Hot off their first NBA Championship, the Denver Nuggets still remain to be the best team in the NBA and for a variety of important factors. Having a two-time MVP and one of the best centers in the NBA in Nikola Jokić on your team certainly goes a long way. But for those that watched the 2023 NBA playoffs and regular season, you might recall just how important Jamal Murray was for the Nuggets, from his unselfish passing to his clutch shots. In 65 games played last season, Murray didn’t post the flashiest of numbers, scoring just 20.0 points per game. However, Murray, much like Young, also had a career high 6.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game as well, illustrating just how important he was for the team.
