With the NBA 2K24 release date now upon us, a big aspect of the game the fans are excited about is that of the new player ratings, particularly those who have made the Top 10 this year. But how many familiar faces will we see?

Although The Joker didn’t win the MVP Award last season (which would have marked his third straight), he’s still a force to be reckoned with and has a Jamal Murray-less Denver Nuggets team playing pretty well. He’s out to prove that not giving him MVP last year was an oversight, and he still has the best overall rating in the game.
Last year, Giannis Antetokounmpo was the best overall rated player with a 97 overall rating. Though we predicted him to have the same rating, Antetokounmpo will in fact be a 96 overall in NBA 2K24 this year. With LeBron James still going strong, NBA 2K24 gave him 96 overall rating as well, same goes for Embiid, Durant, and Curry.

Nikola Jokić – 98 overall
Not many will argue against Nikola Jokic being the best player in the entire sport right now, and there are a ton of reasons for it. He is a special player, someone that’s never really been replicated before. The Denver Nuggets center could have won his third MVP in a row last year, but had to settle for being the opening leader in 2K24 ratings. He hasn’t ascended to the elusive 99 OVR rating yet, but he maintains a grip on the lead as of now.

Nikola Jokic is widely considered the best player in basketball and he easily could have won a third MVP. His rare combination of shooting touch, scoring at the rim, passing vision, basketball IQ, and efficiency make him a tremendously unique player. As it stands, he’s also the best.
Stephen Curry – 97 overall
Steph Curry is among the best shooters to ever live, and among the best players to ever live. At some point, one would expect him to slow down. He’s been at the peak of his powers for nearly a decade, and he continues to show why he’s a special player. This year, when many thought he might finally lose a step, he’s only gotten better. As a result, his 96 OVR from the beginning of the year is up another point early on.
Joel Embiid – 97 overall
It may be a bit surprising that the reigning MVP didn’t come into the game with the best rating. He began as a 96, but he’s been so good that 2K24 has pushed him to a 97 OVR. The reigning MVP getting better? That’s a scary thought for any 2K players who have to face the Philadelphia 76ers at any point. The debate between Embiid and Jokic will never end, and to his credit, Embiid seems to be closing the gap – at least on 2K ratings.
Luka Dončić – 96 overall
Luka Doncic has had a sterling start to the season, as the Dallas Mavericks guard has seen his player rating increase. Many felt as if his 95 OVR to begin the year might have been a touch too low. It seems as if the player himself agreed with that, as he’s been so good to give 2K no choice but to bump him up a notch. Consider him a real threat to win MVP and perhaps eventually top this prestigious list of 2K24 player ratings.
Jayson Tatum – 95 overall
Jayson Tatum is leading a new-look Boston Celtics team to new heights. The star forward claimed last year that he was “respectfully” one of the best players in the entire world. 2K seems to agree and he is doubling down on that by earning a 95 OVR rating and a placement firmly among the game’s best and brightest stars. He hasn’t been able to get his team to the trophy room, but he’s showing once again this year why they cannot be counted out as long as he’s on the floor.
