After winning their very first NBA Championship while also doing so as the number one seed in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets were lined up to be the best team in NBA 2K24. They aren’t even in the top 10. From winning their first NBA Title to being the best team in the Western Conference over the regular season (53-29 record) to being home to a two-time MVP winner, the Nuggets have it all and proved to everyone what kind of force they truly are. However, only center Nikola Jokic is rated higher than 90 this season.
We had the Boston Celtics in second prior to launch, after they proved to everyone how elite they are on both sides of the ball. The Bucks were also in contention, since they were the best team last year in NBA 2K23. But seeing the Celtics had not only a better offense but also a better defense last season, we thought it fair to give the edge to the Celtics in NBA 2K24.

Boston Celtics – 98 overall
Over the last two seasons, the Boston Celtics first made it to the NBA Finals where they came up short against the Golden State Warriors, only to follow that up by going to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, just to fall to the Miami Heat in seven games. There’s a reason why that’s happened, and largely because of how talented the team is from their starters to their bench. Though point guard (PG) Marcus Smart is no longer on the team, the Celtics did sign the electric scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker in power forward/center Kristaps Porziņģis, making them an even greater threat with another star among its ranks.
Memphis Grizzlies – 96 overall
The Memphis Grizzlies have grown into quite the force over recent years, led by tenacious All Star point guard Ja Morant. But as we saw throughout the course of last season, this teams’ talent pool is much larger than their star point guard. Along with Morant, the Grizzlies also have Defensive Player of the Year in center (C) Jaren Jackson Jr., the versatile 3PT specialist in shooting guard (SG) Desmond Bane, and signed Marcus Smart (PG) following the departure of defensive expert Dillon Brooks. This team just comes ready with talent, and even with all the noise circulating around Morant last season, still found a way to finish second in the West Conference with a 51-31 record.
Phoenix Suns – 94 overall
When the Phoenix Suns traded for PF Kevin Durant, they immediately transformed into an elite, playoff-contending team that could cause problems. Despite their early second-round exit last season, the Suns went out and decided to add another coveted NBA star to their ranks when they traded for shooting guard Bradley Beal. With Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Deandre Ayton now all on the same team, the Suns have become not only a playoff contender, but a legitimate NBA Title threat.
