If you’re looking to play Road to the Show, then you will probably want to know how to use face scan in MLB The Show 24. Creating your own player in a sports game to live out your childhood dreams of being a pro athlete is a common experience. Making the player look as much like yourself is difficult, but it’s much easier with face scan. Many sports games have this technology, so here’s how you can use it in MLB The Show 24.
How do I scan my face for MLB The Show 24?
Face scanning in MLB The Show 24, fortunately, requires the MLB The Show Companion app. This is good since Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and all other non-PC consoles for this game. They don’t have an accessible camera for you to scan with.
So in order to start this process, go ahead and search for the companion app. Do this on the App Store or Google Play Store (depending on if you have iOS or Android) and download it. Once the app downloads, open it up and sign in.
Be sure to choose the right platform and credentials. For us, we had to sign in to PlayStation because that’s the platform we are playing it on. Also make sure your console and game account is linked. You can check on your MLB The Show account’s dashboard.
After you’ve successfully signed in, you can press the section on the right corner of the screen for settings and more. The very first option at the top will then be Face Scan. Click it and proceed. It will have you take a photo of yourself to scan your face.
It is imperative in this situation to be in good lighting. You don’t want any shadows to affect your skin tone. We had to redo the scan because of a shadow that made it look like our player had a massive scar on his right cheek. It will have you position your face in the screen for a couple of preliminary steps, including a confirmation message for them to scan. Then, it will take the photo, scan, and upload to the network.
Once that happens, it will take some time. Don’t rush in to create your player yet, because it won’t have the scan. Once it alerts you, then you may proceed with the creation of your player. You can make further adjustments to your physical attributes if you want. You may replace the current photo for better representation if need be.
Please note that the face scan in MLB The Show 24 does not take into account your hairstyle, your height, your weight, or anything of that nature. It’s strictly what your face looks like. You can customize everything else. Also, if you’re unhappy with how something looks on your scan, you can tweak it. The face scan feature sets things up, but you can change the size of your nose, the shape of your eyebrows, or anything else from there.
After you’re done with all that, your in-game MLB The Show appearance should look a lot like you. This is exclusive to Road to the Show (RTTS) and is not available on Diamond Dynasty or any other game mode.

We’re rather impressed with how ours turned out, as it looks like a personal photograph of us instead of a digital rendering. If you want your player to look like you, this is the way to go. It can look a little off at times, but it’s a really useful way of designing your player.
