At the time of writing, you can only play as a woman in the Road to the Show game mode. From the main menu, head to RTTS and before you start you’ll get the choice between creating a male or a female player. Select the option on the left and you’ll be able to make your own female ballplayer.
The RTTS story changes depending on which option you choose. While the male story is more about going from the little leagues to the big-time, the female story has more of a focus on breaking barriers and increasing the size of the women’s game.
The female version of RTTS has been influenced by the real stories of female baseball players like Kelsie Whitemore. It’s been added to make the game more inclusive and to encourage more interest in women’s baseball.
If the mode is a success, then there’s a chance that future entries in the series will continue to include women’s baseball, with women’s teams being available in more game modes such as Franchise Mode.
