The first half of the elite Seattle Mariners duo, Mitch Garver is a very talented catcher. He will give you an RBI when you need it, and he can hold his own behind the plate. This sound all-around skillset gives him the 10th-best rating in the game.
9) Yainer Diaz – 82 OVR
Yainer Diaz is poised to take over the league after a dominant rookie season. He is now the Houston Astros’ primary catcher after playing designated hitter last year. His offense is nearly unrivaled, and he hit quite a few home runs last season to prove that. He is one of the best players on the team and a future All-Star in Major League Baseball.
8) Jonah Heim – 83 OVR
Jonah Heim is capable at the plate, but he truly shines defensively. He is one of the best framing catchers in the league, which is very helpful to the Texas Rangers elite pitching staff. He also throws out a lot of runners. Heim can hit fine, but the Rangers love him for what he does behind the plate at a Gold Glove level rather than at it.
7) Willson Contreras – 84 OVR
Willson Contreras’ defense has been much maligned. However, it doesn’t matter all that much when he is this talented at the plate. He can hit for average like most catchers can’t, which is a big reason the St. Louis Cardinals brought him in to replace Yadier Molina. He’s also a three-time All-Star for a reason.
6) Cal Raleigh – 84 OVR
Seattle Mariners backstop Cal Raleigh has slowly made a name for himself. The catcher is known to be able to leave the park when hitting. He is a dangerous threat to hit homers aplenty and part of the bright future that the Mariners have formed for themselves.
5) William Contreras – 86 OVR
William Contreras is perhaps the most powerful hitting catcher. He doesn’t have elite defense, but he more than makes up for it with his capability of taking a pitch deep at any moment. The Milwaukee Brewers have a true stud behind the plate.

Catcher defense isn’t quite as valuable in the game as it is in the real sport, so offensive firepower behind the plate is useful. Thus, players like William Contreras might be even more useful than their overall might make them seem.

JT Realmuto is one of the best hitters at the catcher position. The Philadelphia Phillies superstar’s defense is slightly worse than some of his counterparts, but he has been an integral part of the team’s success over the last couple of seasons.
3) Will Smith – 87 OVR
Will Smith has become a mainstay in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup. The star catcher has helped their pitching staff perform really well and has developed into a legitimate offensive threat, so he is considered by Sony San Diego the third-best player at his position.
2) Sean Murphy – 89 OVR
Sean Murphy of the Atlanta Braves is the second-best catcher in baseball. He has really good defense, and he’s more than capable at the plate. The Braves have arguably the deepest lineup in all of baseball, and Murphy is a key cog right in the middle of that order.

Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles is the highest-rated backstop in MLB The Show 24. He’s one of the youngest catchers in the game, and he is also the best. He mixes elite offense with exceptional defense, so he doesn’t have much of a weakness in his game.
