There are a bunch of main missions to clear and bringing some friends along will help out. We’re going to look at how to play multiplayer in Rise of the Ronin, and the steps you need to take to get a lobby sorted.

When you bring friends – or randoms – on a mission with you, you will take up a slot for one of your Bond Companions. This means you can’t bring any other allies if you have a full party of three people.

Setting up a lobby is simple, so let’s get into it. For more, read our guides covering how to get foreign books and the best skills in the game. Now, this is how to play multiplayer and co-op in Rise of the Ronin.

How to play multiplayer in Rise of the Ronin

There are two methods for playing multiplayer in Rise of the Ronin. These methods are mostly the same, but you can initiate them in different places. You can start playing co-op from your Longhouse or during a specific Mission prep screen. Either way, choose ‘Cooperate’ when you see the option. From here, select Join, Recruit, or Match. Each of these will do a different thing, which we will explain below.

Simply choose ‘Cooperate ‘ when playing multiplayer in Rise of the Ronin from your Longhouse. When you do this from a Longhouse, the next menu will be a list of all the missions you’ve cleared. This will let you replay old missions with friends if you didn’t get the chance to do so the first time around.

Select Join if you want to find any old lobby currently online. This will place you in the first available lobby that is looking for people to join.

Choosing to Recruit someone will let you be the host. As host, you can select the mission, the difficulty, and if you want one or two people to join you. You can also set a password here, so give this to your friends if you want a fully private lobby.

The final option, Match, will let you find a specific kind of lobby. For example, if you want to do mission in particular, then you can specify this in the settings and join. This is also a good way for your friends to join you, as you can enter the password if you set one here. This is a good way to keep the riff-raff out and play only with your friends.

How many can join a party in Rise of the Ronin?

Rise of the Ronin supports a party of three people. This means it will include you and then two friends. On the other hand, you could set it to be you, a friend, and an AI-controlled ally. Sadly, you cannot have more than three people in your party.

What can you do in Rise of the Ronin multiplayer?

You can only replay missions or tackle new missions together in Rise of the Ronin multiplayer. Sadly, there is no way to invite someone to your world and run around the open world together exploring. Put simply, co-op is specifically tied to the main Ronin Missions that progress the story.
