The Starfield Shipping Magnate achievement is one of the most difficult to obtain in the game. This isn’t because it requires you to do anything particularly hard per se, but because it takes a fair bit of time and effort to achieve. Luckily, we’re here to help you get this achievement in the most efficient way possible so you don’t spend too much time on it.

If you want some Starfield tips and tricks to help you out in your playthrough, we’ve got you covered. Starfield Shipping Magnate: The player placing an Outpost Beacon in a desert area.

How to unlock the Shipping Magnate achievement in Starfield

The Shipping Magnate achievement requires players to ‘Connect 5 Outposts with Cargo Links’. This is a bit misleading, as rather than connecting five individual outposts, it means connecting five outposts to your original outpost, requiring you to connect a total of six outposts rather than five.

Before getting started, you’ll need a fairly large number of resources to build and connect these outposts. Shops such as Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis and Shepherd’s General Store in Akila City will have some of these in stock, while you can gather the rest yourself if you would prefer. In total, you will require:

  • Aluminum x72
  • Beryllium x12
  • Iron x120
  • Zero Wire x12

Once you’ve gathered all the necessary materials, get in your ship and head to an unpopulated planet or moon with a lot of flat, open area, and set up an outpost. We chose Earth in the Sol star system but it doesn’t really matter where you choose.

Our Starfield outpost guide will tell you exactly how to set one up, but essentially, you simply need to open your scanner and place an Outpost Beacon down in an empty area. With your outpost set up, enter build mode and scroll to the Misc. tab. Build one Cargo Link, which will require a fairly large amount of space.

Starfield Shipping Magnate: Linking outposts using the Cargo Link terminal.

With your first Cargo Link set up, leave your first outpost area and set up another Outpost Beacon, followed by a second Cargo Link. This time, climb to the roof of the new Cargo Link and interact with the terminal. Select the Cargo Link option underneath your first outpost to link the two outposts. A green icon will appear to indicate that the two have been successfully linked.

From here, simply repeat the process, building a total of six different outposts and linking them. You don’t need to link each outpost together. Simply link your second outpost to your first, your fourth outpost to your third, and your sixth outpost to your fifth. These three cargo links are enough to unlock the achievement. If you want to create more than three Cargo Links, you will need to level up your Outpost Management skill.
