Knowing how to get adhesive in Starfield is going to be a must if you’re planning on doing any outpost building or weapon modification in Starfield. It’s one of the most used resources in the game, being required for a whole host of recipes, but unlike most natural resources, you can’t just find it lying around on every alien world. That’s why we’re here to help you out.
If you’re looking to do some ship building, then you’ll want to know all of the Starfield best ship parts. And if it’s questing you’re after, then you should try your hand at the Starfield Delivering Devils quest, or the Starfield Absolute Power quest. For now though, let’s take a look at how to get adhesive in Starfield.
Where can you get adhesive in Starfield?
There are three ways to get adhesive in Starfield. These are purchasing it from shops, foraging for and farming it, and looting it. Thankfully, if you’re looking in the right places, stocking up on adhesive is a fairly quick and easy process, and you’ll have more than enough in no time.
Buying adhesive
You can buy adhesives from plenty of vendors such as general stores, Trade Authority kiosks, and from Civilian Outposts. In New Atlantis, for example, you can head to Jemison Mercantile near the spaceport and find some there, while the Trade Authority sometimes has it in stock, but with a rotating stock, it may not always be available. Other locations include the UC Exchange in Cydonia, Shepherd’s General Store in Akila City, and Jae Montreal in New Homestead on Titan, one of the moons of Saturn.
Simply head to a general store and purchase their stock of adhesive, find a bed or a chair and wait for 24 hours to refresh their supply, and repeat until you have all the adhesive you need. Sometimes it can take 48 hours to refresh their supplies, so if adhesive hasn’t been restocked after waiting 24 hours, simply wait another day and you should be good to go.
Alex’s Advice
We would recommend buying adhesive from Jae Montreal in New Homestead. There is a chair in the shop for you to rest on to quickly refresh their stock.
Farming adhesive
Despite what you may think, adhesive can be found naturally in the wild, but only under very specific conditions. There are certain flora that provide adhesive when harvested, and the best option for farming adhesive is the Sweetwater Cactus. Head to biomes like swamps or deserts like that on the planet Gagarin in the Alpha Centauri system and use your scanner to locate any Sweetwater Cacti, before harvesting all the adhesive you need from them.
Additionally, once you’ve fully scanned the cacti, you can cultivate your own adhesive farm to generate your own supply. You require Rank 1 in the Botany skill and a greenhouse in your outpost. Once that’s sorted, connect up water to the building and you’ll be able to grow your own Sweetwater Cacti for an infinite supply of adhesive over time. You’ll probably want to buy your adhesive to get started, but once you can farm your own, you’ll be set for all your adhesive needs.
Last of all, you can kill certain fauna as a means of acquiring adhesive. The Brainsprout Grazers found on Arcturus II in the Arcturus System are a great way of farming for adhesive if you want to get a little bit of combat XP in the meantime.
Looting adhesive
This is definitely the least reliable means of getting adhesive, and if you’re specifically looking to stock up, then we recommend one of our other methods. Nevertheless, if you’re out exploring, you’ll often come across adhesive sitting in chests in spacer outposts and other areas. Make a point of picking it up every time you see it, and this will be a nice little boost to your adhesive stockpile over time.
How to get adhesive in Starfield using console commands
If you don’t have the patience to go and farm some adhesive, PC players can easily just get as much as you want using console commands. Press the ~ key to open up the console and type in “player.additem 55B15 [amount]” and hit enter. Whatever number you entered in the [amount] section, you’ll receive that much adhesive straight into your inventory. The perfect method for anyone who just wants to do some outpost building and has no time for farming.
What is adhesive used for in Starfield?
Adhesive is used for a huge number of things when it comes to outpost development and crafting weapon mods. Many items you can create and place in your outpost require adhesive to build, such as the Weapon Workbench. Meanwhile, many weapon modifiers also require adhesive as an ingredient, so you should stock up if you’re planning on adding any to your arsenal.
That’s everything you need to know about how to get adhesive in Starfield.
