The Nameless Village in Dragon’s Dogma 2 might not have much on the surface, but this odd settlement is crucial to tracing the origins of the false Sovran for Captain Brant over in Vernworth. But, peeking at the quest objective, you’re given very little go on and the villagers aren’t much help either, brushing off your questions with quips and the odd insult as we discovered during our playthrough of The Nameless Village.

To save you some time and hassle, we’ll walk you through how to complete the Dragons’ Dogma 2 The Nameless Village quest.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 The Nameless Village walkthrough

You’ll pick up Dragon’s Dogma 2 Nameless Village quest from Captain Brant at the Stardrop Inn in Vernworth. He’ll task you with investigating a village to unravel the mystery of the false Sovran. Reaching the village is easy enough as it’s marked by a helpful yellow circle on your map to the northeast of Vernworth. Pack some Salubrious Draught, a Camping Kit, and a Ferrystone for the journey, and get going.

When you reach the village, you’ll be told to stay away. Pay no heed to this. Talking to NPCs won’t yield much either. You might bump into a small girl that will dart into a house then disappear through a stoned-up doorway, likely leaving you even more confused as to what to do.

Keep walking on the main road that cuts through the village and heads upwards to reach a run-down mansion. This belongs to Flaude, who is supposedly a skilled Thief. He tells you that he hasn’t heard of the false Sovran, but he’ll give you the Legend’s Opus, letting you learn a Thief-only skill called the Blades of the Pyre.

Flaude is just a decoy though. Head to the left of the Old Noble Manor and you’ll spot a hole in the ground with a ladder, marked on the map as the Nameless Village Depths. Follow it down and you’ll be treated to an obstacle course with tilting platforms and swinging weights to test your timing. The wooden platforms that act as seesaws are easier if you’re a Thief or if you can levitate as a Mage. Don’t worry about being hit as you can retry by climbing up the ladder at the start of each pit. Just watch out for the Leapworms on the floor.

✓ Tip

Secret chest

There’s a hallway built into the wall between the two challenge rooms. Use the Footpad skill to bounce between the walls and reach the chest to get the Gazer’s Hood.

Finish the obstacle course and you’ll reach a secret underground room. Here, you’ll meet Srail, the real Thief-Maister. He’ll inform you that the mysterious village setup above is to trick people and send them away. He’ll hand over Formless Feint, an advanced dodge for the Thief vocation.

More importantly, Srail will give you the bill of arrest for Darragh, the false Sovran. It’s worth looting the chests scattered around the underground base before you exit through the door to the left. These give you some solid gear like the Peltflayers daggers and Thief’s Gaiters, perfect for a lethal Thief build.

Return to Brant in Vernworth and hand over the bill of arrest to complete The Nameless Village quest, earning you 7,500 Gold, 1200 XP, and a Dragon’s Gaze for your efforts.
