Is the Super Mario RPG remake worth it?
Honestly, this is a tough question to answer as it’s completely subjective. But from our point of view, the Super Mario RPG remake is definitely worth it. For anyone that hasn’t played the original game, this should go without saying. The original is critically acclaimed as has developed somewhat of a dedicated cult following, so is a must-play for any Mario fans who haven’t tried it out yet.
But for people who have played the original, there are reasons to buy the remake too. Firstly, the game has been updated for modern gamers, with much better graphics and some quality-of-life updates that will make the game much more enjoyable.
And while the story and gameplay are largely the same, staying faithful to the original with fan favourite characters like Geno, Mallow, Bowser and Princess Peach, thanks to some leaks we know that there’s even some new content being added to the game to freshen things up. This means anyone who’s played the original still has new things to experience in the remake.

While this is the first remake of Super Mario RPG, it was re-released on Virtual Console twice, on both the Wii and the Wii U.
