Not sure how to use wings in Tears of the Kingdom? As you near the end of the Great Sky Island, you’ll need to use wings to fly away from the Gutanac Shrine and make it back to the Temple of Time, then you’ll need to use them again once you complete the fourth shrine. But it isn’t obvious how to use them, despite the advice from Rauru.

However, that’s not all you can do with Zonai wings. There are endless possibilities once you use both Ultrahand and Fuse, and once you know how to get a paraglider, you can combine that with wings to soar around the Hyrule map. Here’s the lowdown on how to use wings in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to fly with wings in Tears of the Kingdom

To use wings when you first encounter them, use the Ultrahand ability to place them in the rails on the floor, then stand in the middle. As the wings launch off the rails, you can control where you go by walking left and right. If you walk to the nose of the wing glider, you’ll start diving quicker towards the ground.

That’s all the knowledge you’ll need to understand how wings work during the lengthy tutorial of Great Sky Island, however there are plenty more techniques you can use. When you have the wings in a Zonai Device, you can use the paraglider then place wings beneath your feet and land on them, to soar around without draining stamina. The same goes for a fan – stick one on the back of the wings and you’ll accelerate much faster. Just be aware that these will stop working if your Zonai Charge runs out.

If you’re struggling to get on the wings before they slide away from you on the rails, you can always use Recall to hold them in place. However, this doesn’t work if you’re trying to use the wings while gliding or diving, as you can’t use abilities when Link in mid-air.

  • Walk right – turn right
