The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Zonai Charges are devices which can be found in the Great Sky Island. Once you’ve added them to your inventory early on in the game, you’re going to think that they’re slightly useless, though later on in the game they prove their worth.

After completing the Inisa Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to come across Energy Cells which allow you to use the Zonai devices as a power source.

How to use Zonai Charges in Tears of the Kingdom

Using a Zonai Charge in TotK is an easy enough process, as you only need a charged Zonai Energy Cell. These Energy Cells effectively act like a battery, and you can charge an Energy Cell with a Zonai Charge, though they also refill automatically at times.

You can refill a Zonai Energy Cell with a Zonai Charge by using it in your Inventory, and then after that, you simply hit a Zonai Device with your weapon to activate it.

Here are a few of the Zonai Devices that you can find throughout Hyrule:

  • Zonai Time Bomb
  • Zonai Beam Emitter
  • Zonai Cannon
  • Zonai Cart
  • Zonai Hydrant
  • Zonai Shock Emitter capsule

What are Zonai Device Dispensers in Tears of the Kingdom?

A Zonai Device Dispenser is first encountered after reaching Sky Island in Tears of the Kingdom. After you reach the area, you’re going to need 5 Zonai Charges in your Inventory. Once you are in front of the Zonai Device Dispenser, you can press ‘A’ to put them into it. It functions similarly to the Portable Pot in the Breath of the Wild sequel.

This will get you some Zonai Devices ranging from fans and a glider to flame and laser weapons. These are important if you’re looking to start crafting vehicles, rockets, and even a hot air balloon with the Ultrahand Ability in Tears of the Kingdom. These can be incredibly handy throughout your journey, especially when exploring the depths.

We’d highly recommend adding five Zonai Charges at once, as adding Zonai Charges one-by-one yields far less than all at once. If you’re out of Zonai Charges, you can also use zonai materials taken from the constructs you’ve defeated. Items like a soldier construct horn can be used in the same way as a Zonai Charge at these dispensers.

How to get Zonai Charges in Tears of the Kingdom

You can get Zonai Charges fairly early on in the game. As you explore Hyrule, you’re going to be able to pick them up from some of the bog-standard enemies you encounter first. You can also buy them along with crystallized charges from a Forge Construct, found on the Great Sky Island, and across the depths, though this requires mining zonaite.

If you head over to the area that the eponymous Princess Zelda was taken from, you’re going to be able to find Constructs. These are some of the first new enemies in Tears of the Kingdom and the drop Soldier Construct Horns alongside Zonai Charges.

What are Zonai Charges in Tears of the Kingdom?

Zonai Charges in Tears of the Kingdom are resource items dropped by Soldier Constructs when you defeat them. They can be used to charge Zonai Devices, and also can be used to trade in return for Zonai Devices through Gacha Gumball Machines.
