The Tears of the Kingdom Gutanbac Shrine is the final one you’ll take on before entering the Temple of Time. Here, you’ll receive the Ascend ability, letting you travel through a ceiling above you to reach the other side, and, in this case, solve the Gutanbac Shrine puzzles. This Shrine teaches you how to use this ability so you can put it to good use in your The Legend of Zelda TotK playthrough.

If you’ve already managed to beat the Tears of the Kingdom Ukouh Shrine and the Tears of the Kingdom In-Isa Shrine, the only thing left to do is take on the Tears of the Kingdom Gutanbac Shrine, and we’ll go through it from start to finish.

Where is the Gutanbac Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom?

The Gutanbac Shrine is located on the east of the Great Sky Island. It’s located on a small plateau surrounded by ice which Link can’t climb. The coordinates of the Gutanbac Shrine are 0709, -1380, 1584.

To reach it, you have to look for a waterfall on one side of the plateau, and climb the exposed stone wall behind it. Make sure to use your Zelda Tears of the Kingdom cooking to make a meal that will let you resist the cold up here, ideally Spicy Sauteed Pepper made from Spicy Peppers, which grant enough minutes of cold resistance to reach the Shrine.

Tears of the Kingdom Gutanbac Shrine walkthrough and solution

In the first room you’ll find a small platform ahead of you. Simply walk underneath the platform and activate Ascend. Look up at the ceiling and line up the markings so that they turn green. Use Ascend and Link will swim through the platform to the other side. Proceed to the next room.

In the second room are two pillars on the wall to your right. Use Ascend to reach the shorter pillar, where you will find a treasure chest containing a stone axe. Now jump down and use Ascend on the taller pillar to reach the top.

Up here, you’ll find a Construct. Avoid attacks from their bow and arrow, and defeat them. Look to the right and you’ll see two wooden crates in the wall. Destroy these, and use Ascend in the small gap they left to find a treasure chest containing a construct bow.

Drop down again and proceed until you find a stone bridge held up by two ropes. Simply cut the ropes by hitting them with your weapon to lower the bridge. Walk underneath the bridge and use Ascend to reach the next area.

Here you’ll find a large platform high up, with a moving platform beneath it. Wait for the moving platform to pass above you, and use Ascend to climb on top of it. Now, wait for the moving platform to pass underneath the pillar, and use it as you pass underneath to reach the floor above.

Walk into the next room and interact with the Shrine to complete it. You’ll receive a Light of Blessing as your reward.
