In Starfield, Security is a novice skill in the Tech category. This skill allows Spacefarer to attempt to hack more complex locks on crates and doors. The skill also increases the number of automatic hacking attempts at once.

| Rank 1 | You can attempt to hack advanced locks with 2 auto attempts being banked. | Pick 5 locks |
| Rank 2 | You can attempt to hack expert locks. 3 auto attempts can also be banked. Rings turn blue when the pick can be slotted | Pick 15 locks |
| Rank 3 | Now able to attempt to hack master-level locks with 4 auto attempts banked. | Pick 25 locks |
| Rank 4 | Expend a digipick to eliminate keys that aren't required to solve the puzzle. 5 auto attempts can also be banked. | N/A |
