In Starfield, Negotiation is a skill in the Social category. By levelling up this skill, players will gain the ability to use bribery in speech challenges, and gradually increase their expertise in it. As an Advanced-tier skill, players will need to invest 4 skill points in Social skills before it can be unlocked. Later ranks are locked behind challenges.
Negotiation skill ranks

| Rank 1 | Players will now be able to use bribery in speech challenges. | Bribe 3 times through persuasion. |
| Rank 2 | Bribery costs are reduced 25%. | Bribe 5 times through persuasion. |
| Rank 3 | Bribery costs are reduced 50%. | Bribe 10 times through persuasion. |
| Rank 4 | Occasionally, bribery won't cost any money at all. | N/A |
