In Starfield, Instigation is a skill in the Social category. Instigation is a social skill that encourages enemies to fight amongst themselves for a limited time.
Instigation skill ranks
| Skill Rank | Description | Challenge |
|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | You can force an NPC at or below your level to attack allies for limited time | Instigate 5 different people successfully. |
| Rank 2 | You can force NPCs that are 10 levels higher than you to attack their allies for a limited time | Instigate 25 different people successfully. |
| Rank 3 | You can force NPCs that are 20 levels higher than you to attack their allies for a limited time | Instigate 50 different people successfully |
| Rank 4 | NPCs or Enemies affected by Instigation will attack allies until dead | N/A |
