In Starfield, Commerce is a skill in the Social category. By levelling up this skill, players can earn more money when selling items, and pay less when buying them. As a Novice-tier skill, it is available from the beginning of the game, though later ranks are locked behind challenges.
Commerce skill ranks
| Skill rank | Description | Challenge |
|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | Players will be able to buy items for 5% less, and sell them for 10% more. | Buy or sell 25 unique items. |
| Rank 2 | Players will be able to buy items for 10% less, and sell them for 15% more. | Buy or sell 75 unique items. |
| Rank 3 | Players will be able to buy items for 15% less, and sell them for 20% more. | Buy or sell 150 unique items. |
| Rank 4 | Players will be able to buy items for 20% less, and sell them for 25% more. | N/A |
