We’ve had a few details now on what we can expect in Season 2 so far – including the confirmation of the return of Gun Game and Infected mode for Multiplayer.

Meanwhile, as it pertains to Season 2 – Warzone 2 will be welcoming in the return of Resurgence mode, complete with its own bespoke new map.

MW2 Season 2 Release Date

It’s official! Season 2 of MW2 will be released on February 15th, 2023 based on the announcement made by Call of Duty on Twitter. This does indeed confirm that the start of S2 is going to be delayed as the previous launch date had been slated for February 1st.

Additional details have now also been provided through an extensive developer blog post. Aside from the return of Gun Game and Infected and the inclusion of a new map, players can also expect a plethora of new features to be introduced to both battle royale and multiplayer modes, such as new weapons, fun events, and unique cosmetics.

This first season of MW2 received a much earlier launch date compared to the 2019 title. Previously, the inaugural season for the predecessor went live during December of the same year. Its follow-up season would then go on to be made public on the 10th of February 2020.

Some of the notable locations that were introduced during that time were Rust, Atlas Superstore, Zhokov Boneyard, and Bazaar. The memorable Infected Ground War mode was also included during this release.

How Many Seasons Will MW2 Have?

It’s unsure with how many seasons MW2 will have. However the previous game, Vanguard, had around five seasons ending in November 2022 right before MW2 released.

From this, it’s a good estimation that MW2 will have roughly five to six seasons.

For MW2, the upcoming Season 2 release is following a similar strategy as the previous installment, coming with a new small map for Warzone 2, new multiplayer maps, new unique weapons, Ranked Play, and a whole lot more.

Some of these additions will likely come in the first half of the season while others will probably drop later. It’s also probably safe to assume a “Reloaded” drop will happen around six weeks into the season.

The first Reloaded season also saw Raids arrive – and we’ve been promised that more Raids will be added in future seasons, so we can almost definitely safely assume we’ll get some of those too.
