Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ornate Box explained

When you first come enter Vernworth, you’ll talk with Captain Brant. After this, you have a brief encounter with a young man who is running from a guard. The guard, Norman, will ask you which way the boy went. You should lie to Norman about which way the boy went; partly because it pays off later, and partly because it’s funny. The boy will thank you and run off.

Head to the centre of Vernworth where a man named Auriol is running a stall near the weapon shop. In his inventory, you’re able to buy an Ornate Box for 1,000G (or for a 20% discount if you gave his daughter Flora a Fruit Roborant in Melve during the Medicament Predicament side quest). Do not buy the Ornate Box yet. We’ll explain why later on.

Near the shop is the urchin boy who you met at the gates of the city. He may even be talking to Auriol when you first approach the shop. He’ll say he’s been wanting to buy the Ornate Box but doesn’t have the money, and will ask you to buy it for him, promising to pay you back.

Alex’s Advice

Helping Sven out doesn’t just get you rewards immediately, but may help you out later on, as Sven will play a role during the main story, and future side quests.

You can either give him the money for it, or buy it yourself to save 200G if you helped our Flora in Melve. Either way, give him the box and he’ll thank you, introducing himself as Sven. Sven promises to repay you and leaves, giving you the vague quest objective ‘receive recompense from Sven in a few days’ time’.

From the next day, you can return to the square where Sven will be sat at the fountain in the centre for three days in a row. During the first encounter, talk to him to hear a bit more about his life and receive a jasper as a reward.

Repeat this to receive the Ring of Accrual on the second encounter, a ring that increases your inventory size, and a Ferrystone and some clothes – a pair of Courtly Trousers, the Courtly Tunic, and the Courtly Breeches – on the third encounter.

Later on, once you’ve reached Bakbattahl for the first time, you may want to come back to Vernworth to talk to Sven, who will give you the ‘A Veil of Gossamer Clouds‘ side quest, which has its own great rewards.

That’s the end of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ornate Box side quest. If you’re after some more Dragon’s Dogma 2 quests, check out the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb and Prey for the Pack side quests. And if you’re wondering about the Dragon’s Dogma 2 true ending, we’ve got a guide for that too.
