RPGs often rely heavily on inventory management, though you can increase your weight limit and carry more in Dragon’s Dogma 2 pretty easily.

If you end up carrying too many items at once, your character’s weight is going to increase. Depending on their starting weight, it’s possible for them to become over-encumbered quite easily. This has knock-on effects on their speed, agility, and stamina consumption. This is how to fix it.

There are a few different ways that the weight limit in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be increased.

Eat Golden Trove Beetles

You will find these little critters in forests and clinging to trees. They’re made out of gold, so they shimmer and are quite hard to miss. There are plenty of these scattered around the map, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled when you’re exploring. In our Dragon’s Dogma 2 tips article we’ve recommended that you explore at night while trying to level up fast. This is going to help you find Golden Trove Beetles as they are even more visible in the dark.

Fill your belly as soon as you can

Consuming one of these will increase your max encumbrance by 0.15kg. While this is not a lot at all, gorging on these does add up. We’d also recommend eating these as soon as you get them, as they have no value other than to be consumed.

Wear the Ring of Accrual

The Ring of Accrual is a pretty common item in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and can be found being flogged by Apothecaries, Smiths, and Armorers. It’s going to cost 6500 gold, though you can get discounts by increasing your affinity with certain NPCs.

Vendors that sell the Ring of Accrual:

  • Bjorn’s Armory in Vermworth
  • Philbert’s Sundries in Vernworth
  • Runne’s Apothecary in Melve
  • Celete’s Smithy in Checkpoint Rest Town
  • Morris’ Apothecary in Checkpoint Rest Town
  • Bodas’ Armory in Bakbattalhl
  • Agamem Ruins Apothecary in Agamem Ruins
  • Montgomery in Borderwatch Outpost

One Campsite to Rule Them All

If you’re carrying multiple campsites with you, get rid of some. They’re heavy and bulky, and you only really need one at any moment.

Levelling your character increase your max carry weight

If your belly is full of Golden Trove Beetles, and your fingers are wearing all the rings they can, then you’re going to be able to level up your character in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to increase their max carry weight. This will increase your encumbrance statistic ever so slightly.

Thew Augment for the Fighters

If you’ve chosen a Fighter for your Arisen or your main Pawn, then you’re going to be able to apply the Thew Augment which will increase your total encumbrance by 10KG. This is the third augment you can unlock for the Vocation, and will turn you or your Pawn into the party mule. If you end up changing your vocation, this augment can carry over.

That’s as much as we have on how to increase your max encumbrance in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The Thief class generally has the worst carrying potential, though the best daggers in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will help you carve up enemies with ease.

Does weight matter in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Weight primarily affects your character’s encumbrance. Before you start a new save-file and a new character in DD2, consider what kind of class you’re planning to adopt. If you’re a Fighter or Warrior, go heavier. If you’re a Thief or Archer, you’ll want to be a little more agile. Ultimately, weight is going to have a direct impact on your combat and adventure style.

What happens if you’re over-encumbered in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

If you exceed your carry weight in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’re going to end up with increased stamina consumption. This will make it harder for you to sprint in-game, while also making it a lot harder for you to defeat enemies without gassing out.
