Dragon’s Dogma 2 Hunt for the Jadeite Orb walkthrough

The Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest begins once you make your way to the Checkpoint Rest Town. The easiest way to do this is to take the ox cart at the western gate of Vermund. Once here, a beastren named Offulve will approach you saying they lost a Jadeite Orb and asking you to retrieve it for them.

Head a bit to the north, and you’ll be approached by a second NPC – Everard. He’s the one who originally gave Offulve the Orb, and is looking for it himself. You have a choice, you can either give the Orb to Offulve and let him sell it to help make a new life for himself, or return it to Everard.

Where to find the Jadeite Orb

Offulve will tell you to speak to a bandit to help with its whereabouts. You can head to Vernworth gaol to speak to a prisoner who will tell you about Ibrahim’s Scrap Store. This store is located in the Checkpoint Rest Town, so don’t bother heading to Vernworth.

Instead, turn right at the end of the high street, around the corner from where Everard is hanging around to a small street behind the vocation guild to find a small shop with a merchant NPC waiting. Talk to shopkeeper Ibrahim to find you can buy the titular Jadeite Orb from him for 7,500G.  At this point you can bring it back to your person of choice, but…

You may also notice that Ibrahim can create forgeries. For another 2,000G you can make yourself a forgery of the Jadeite Orb to give to one of Everard and Offluve to trick them. This will take a few days, so give Ibrahim the Orb and head off and do another quest, like the nearby Prey for the Pack side quest.

Alex’s Advice

If you want, you can just take the Jadeite Orb and give it to Everard or Offluve without getting a forgery. But if you want the maximum rewards from this quest, then you need to make a forgery of it.

Should you give the Jadeite Orb to Offulve or Everard?

Once you’ve got your forgery, it’s time to hand over the Orbs, but who should you give the real one to? We think that the best possible outcome is to give the Jadeite Orb to Everard.

If you give the real Jadeite Orb to Offulve, you don’t gain any additional rewards. Furthermore, Everard will require a test to check if it’s the real Orb, taking it to Ibrahim. You can bribe Ibrahim to tell Everard that it’s real, but this will cost you another 6,000G.

If you give Offluve the fake Jadeite Orb, he will reward you with 3,000G and an Elite Camping Kit, thinking that the Orb is real. You can then give the real Orb to Everard, pass the test without having to bribe Ibrahim and be rewarded with 12,000G (meaning a 5,500G profit) and a Ring of Skullduggery which deals increased damage when attacking from behind.

There is no morality system in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and Offluve doesn’t appear again in the game, so there’s no downside in giving him the forgery. The only thing that happens is your Pawns may briefly discuss that they feel bad for deceiving Offluve, but who cares what they think, eh?
