The Starfield Blast Zone side quest is a fairly quick one, where you help a realtor clear some room in Akila City. However, the possibility of a bug means some players have been unable to finish it. We’re here to help, taking you through the quest and how to fix these otherwise quest-ending bugs.

Starfield Blast Zone: Ngodrup Tate offering you the Blast Zone quest.

Starfield Blast Zone walkthrough

While exploring the streets of Akila City, you’ll eventually come across Ngodup Tate, a real estate agent who is looking to sell you the Core Manor house. Whether you take up his offer or not, he will also offer you a mission. He is looking to create new affordable housing for some more residents, but there are some hard rock deposits on the land. He can’t use explosives as they are within the city boundaries. So, as an ex-Argos miner, he needs you to clear the hard stone for him. You may also hear about this quest from a nearby guard as you walk past.

Starfield Blast Zone: The player mining the hard rock with a cutter

Make sure you’ve got a Laser Cutter with you, and follow the quest marker out of town. You can buy a Cutter from Laredo Firearms and Rowland Farms if you don’t have a Cutter with you. Cutter in hand, simply mine the six boulders on Tate’s land, and head back to him. Tell him you’ve cleared the rocks to complete the quest, netting yourself 55 XP and a pretty hefty 4300 credits.

Starfield Blast Zone mission bug fix

There are a couple of bugs which have affected players taking this quest on. For some, when talking to Ngodrup Tate, the quest isn’t offered to them, and for others, the iron rocks out of town don’t appear. Luckily, there is a handy solution that will fix both bugs, and is simple to perform.

Starfield Blast Zone: The player about next to a bed with the sleep menu open

Head back to your ship, fly to and land on the planet Venus in the Sol system. While there, wait or sleep for at least 10 hours. Once you’ve done this, fly back to Akila City and return to Tate or the rocks, and you should be able to proceed with the quest as normal.

If that doesn’t work, PC players will be able to use console commands to force the game to load the next stage of the quest. Open the console using ‘~’, and type ‘setstage 0003DC10 400’. This will load the next section and the quest will proceed as normal. Be aware that using the console may disable achievements, so avoid this if that’s something you care about.
