When is the NBA 2K24 release date?

The official release date for NBA 2K24 is on Friday, September 8, 2023. Considering NBA 2K23 and NBA 2K22 both launched on the second Friday of the month of September over these last two years, it comes to no surprise that NBA 2K24 followed suit once more with an identical release date. There is some debate over the start time though, so find out the NBA 2K24 release time in the UK and US.

The game will be available across the usual platforms, including PC (Steam), PlayStation consoles PS4 and PS5, and Xbox consoles Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The game will support crossplay too across the same generation of console. We await news regarding NBA 2K24 for Nintendo Switch.

This year you can purchase NBA 2K in one of four editions of the game, including the 25th Anniversary Edition, Black Mamba Edition, Kobe Bryant Edition, and a gamestop exclusive WNBA Edition. Each will come with its own bonuses and cover art. Sabrina Ionescu is the cover star on the WNBA Edition, while Bryant is the main cover athlete for the other versions.

In-game bonuses include virtual currency, MyPlayer benefits, NBA League Pass, MyTeam Points, and MyTeam promo packs among many more. Check out our NBA 2K24 Pre-Order guide for all the details.

Does NBA 2K24 have early access?

NBA 2K24 did not have an early access period. As many fans know, NBA 2K23 did not come with an early access period either. And, lo and behold, that is the case once more with NBA 2K24. This was also the case in previous editions as well, including NBA 2K22.

Most sports game series such as Madden, MLB The Show, and FIFA, have all offered early access periods in previous editions, usually attainable by buying the deluxe or ultimate editions of the games. But 2K Sports has been the sole exception that’s refrained from adding an early access period, and has done so yet again for NBA 2K24. Should NBA 2K make any announcements about changing this, we will be sure to update this guide accordingly.

What game modes are in NBA 2K24?

The usual game modes are returning in NBA 2K24 as MyTeam, MyCareer, and MyNBA will be available to fans. This year’s MyNBA comes with a Lebron James theme, offering an exciting new era for the mode. A new Mamba Moments mode offers fans the chance to replay some of Kobe Bryant’s most recognizable career milestones and favorite NBA moments from his time in the league.

Each mode in the game will be enhanced by incredible new technology. The introduction of ProPlay has seen real-life NBA footage used to create the most realistic NBA gameplay experience. Players will feel the benefit with responsive gameplay and improved visuals. You can see all of the new NBA 2K24 gameplay features here.
