Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations and solutions

There are a total of 22 Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations to find in Remedy’s sequel. Each one contains a selection of loot and gear, ranging from flashlight batteries and flares, to ammo, keys, and inventory space upgrades. 

Not all out accessible from the start of the game though, and you’ll need to wait until you have the bolt cutters during Return 5 Old Gods before you can find them all. Our guide explains where you can find all the Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations in Cauldron Lake, Bright Falls, and Cauldron, along with the solutions to get into each stash. 

Note that Alan Wake 2 has a point of no return once you’ve completed Return 6 Scratch (check out the Alan Wake 2 mission list for more details), beyond which it becomes tricky to get to all the Cult Stash locations, so we recommend gathering them all up before talking to Agents Estevez in the Sheriff’s Station in Bright Falls. Once you loot the 22nd Cult Stash (the order doesn’t matter), you’ll get the Lighthouse Key, which you can use on the door at the Watery Lighthouse.

Cauldron Lake Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations and solutions

Here are the Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations in Bright Falls:

Cult Stash 1

• Location – Cauldron Lake Shore. Crawl underneath a collapsed tree towards the water’s edge. Cult Stash is on the left. 
• Solution – match the blinking light pattern.

Cult Stash 2

• Location – Streamside. Next to the Private Cabin and south of the Witchfinder’s Station. Solution – 658. Rock Rock Tree per the document taped to the stash, which point to yellow marking on the tree and rocks nearby.

Cult Stash 3

• Location – Rental Cabins, inside the southernmost cabin. The Bolt cutters are required to reach the cabins.
• Solution – Lake Cabins Stash Key, found in the north of the cabin area at the foot of a tree marked with the number 2 in yellow.

Cult Stash 4

• Location – South of the General Store and Murder Site, near a pre-fab cabin and next to a picnic table. 
• Solution – look at the symbols inside the building: two side-by-side triangles, one facing up and the other down; two triangles facing one another slanted 45° to the right; two triangles that meet at their base, one pointing right and the other left.

Cult Stash 5

• Location – By a campsite northwest of the Witch sign in Crow’s Foot Hills.
• Solution – Streamside Stash Key. Follow the arrows using the flashlight to find the key on a rock south of the stash.

Watery Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations and solutions

Here are the Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations in Bright Falls:

Cult Stash 1

• Location – Path leading to Coffee World from Watery used in Return 3 Local Girl. Crawl under a log then up a rock to find the stash.
• Solution – repeat the blinking light pattern.

Cult Stash 2

• Location – Path leading to Coffee World in Watery. Follow the path until you come to the Watery Hunting Shack. The cult stash is opposite the entrance. 
• Solution – 527. Match the numbers on the targets to the right of the stash, starting with the target with the least amounts of bolts stuck to it to the one with the most. 5 = 1 bolt, 2 = 2 bolts, 7 = 3 bolts. You get the crossbow.

Cult Stash 3

• Location – At the foot of the Ferris wheel in Coffee World. 
• Solution – 147 – the numbers on the stripped Ferris wheel boxes.

Cult Stash 4

• Location – Huotari Well in Coffee World. Behind the bushes and rocks near the well.
• Solution – Coffee World Stash Key, found behind the statue of a coffee mug towards the centre of the park, near the gazebo.

Cult Stash 5

• Location – Lighthouse Trailer Park. Only available once you’ve cleared the Overlap during Return 3 Local Girl and the flooding has subsided. 
• Solution – Head right from the stash, climb the piece of wood acting as a ramp on a blue container. The Trailer Park Stash Key is on top of a utility metre attached to the pole.

Cult Stash 6

• Location – Watery Lighthouse. On a cliff northwest of the lighthouse not far from the break room.
• Solution –  It’s a combination lock but instead of numbers it has cult symbols: two stacked triangles facing downwards, two stacked triangles facing upwards, and two triangles side by side facing downwards. The correct combination is found by tracking down painted roman numerals on rocks near the stash with a symbol made of sticks below each one. The roman numeral indicates the symbols position in the combination order. 

Cult Stash 7

• Location –  Downtown Watery. At the end of the small pier behind some blue containers in the southeast of the town. Only accessible near the end of Return 3 Local Girl. 
• Solution – Math problem: ‘There are 3 batteries (B1, B2, B3) which have a combined charge of 1600 Amps. B2 has 128 Amps more than B3. B1 has two times as much charge as B3. How many amps does B2 have?’ The answer is 496.

Cult Stash 8

• Location –  Kalevala Knights Workshop. You’ll need the bolt cutters to open the fence. Stash is in the yard behind the workshop. 
• Solution – 542. Established by counting the abandoned ‘spare parts’ from the rides in the yard.

Bright Falls Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations and solutions

Here are the Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations in Bright Falls:

Cult Stash 1

• Location – Bunker Woods, northwest of the Break Room near the Nursery Rhyme.
• Solution – Match the blinking light pattern on the lock.

Cult Stash 2

• Location –  Bunker Woods, south of the Break Room, at the back of an abandoned truck. 
• Solution – Math puzzle ‘ there are 200 total vehicles in a factory, consisting of bicycles and cars. Each car has four wheels, and each bicycle has 2 wheels. There are a total of 754 wheels in the factory: how many cars are in the factory?’ The Answer is 177.

Cult Stash 3

• Location –  Bunker Woods, southwest of the Valhalla Nursing Home in the forest near some rocks, accessible once you’ve beaten Cynthia in the overlap. 
• Solution – Bunker Woods Stash Key is just west of the Cult Stash. Follow the white arrows printed on black boards to find the key.

Cult Stash 4

• Location –  Bunker Woods, east of the Break Room that’s south of the Valhalla Nursing Home and west of the Ranger Station. 
• Solution – Symbols from glowing arrows: two arrows pointing left and right; two arrows pointing down; and two arrows pointing up and down meeting at their points.

Cult Stash 5

• Location –  Bunker Woods, just northwest of the Ranger Station on a small hill, accessible once you’ve got through the Valhalla Nursing Home overlap. 
• Solution – Ranger Station Stash Key, at the foot of the chimney outside the Ranger Station.

Cult Stash 6

• Location –  Downtown Bright Falls, near a truck outside the Elderwood Palace Lodge.
• Solution – Match the blinking light pattern on the lock.

Cult Stash 7

• Location –  Downtown Bright Falls, in a shack near the Fresh Sea Food building opposite the waterfront. You’ll need to bolt cutters to access the pier.
• Solution – 697. You can figure this out by finding the numbers on the poles around the pier indicating water levels.

Cult Stash 8

• Location –  Downtown Bright Falls, behind a locked gate at the end of the alley left of the Oh Deer Diner. You’ll need the bolt cutters to break the lock. 
• Solution – Per the painter’s log, head to the park which is just east of the Oh Deer Diner. Symbols can be found near the gazebo, at the center near the benches, and on the satellite dish. Answer: two triangles side-by-side, pointing upwards; two triangles with their bases connected, one pointing right, one pointing left; two stacked triangles pointing upwards.

Cult Stash 9

• Location –  Lower floor of the Sheriff’s Station in the evidence room. Use bolt cutters to get inside.
• Solution – 146, count the lines used to make each shape.

Kalevala Knights Workshop reveals all Alan Wake 2 Cult Stash locations

When visiting the Kalevala Knights Workshop in Watery during Return 3 Local Girl, there’s a map on the wall in the Break Room at the workshop. Interact with each of the maps to get the location of all the Cult Stashes in Cauldron Lake, Bright Falls, and Watery marked on your map. It makes finding them considerably easier, leaving you to figure out the solution for each rather than blindly search them out.
