With all the customization offered by the Gunsmith, you’ll be wondering if it’s possible to change reticle in MW2, providing the perfect look for your chosen weapon sight. However, it is not currently possible to change reticle in MW2.

Thankfully, there are a wide number of optic options available in Modern Warfare 2. So even if you aren’t comfortable with the reticle of your current scope, you will be able to swap it out until you find the scope with the perfect reticle. Though naturally, this is frustrating if you have found a scope that works perfectly, and the reticle is the only sticking point.

While Modern Warfare 2’s customization options are extensive and impressive, they are more focused on tweaking gameplay balance than the look of your weapons and gear.

Aesthetic options like operator skins are available. But they pale in comparison to the precision with which you can customize your guns’ performance.

It’s unsure whether Infinity Ward will allow people to change reticles anytime soon. Given that it has been a feature in many Modern Warfare games past, we assume it will only be a matter of time before changing reticle becomes an option in MW2. And given that large updates are no doubt on the way, changing reticles might be coming to MW2 sooner rather than later.

Can You Buy Reticles in MW2?

Because reticles aren’t available to change or customize, you cannot buy them either in MW2. If you like a specific reticle, you will have to equip a certain optic that contains that reticle. In addition, all optics in MW2 can only be unlocked by completing specific challenges. As a result, reticles are not available for purchase in MW2, nor are optics.

How Do You Change Crosshairs in MW2?

The reticle includes a few specific aspects that fans in the past were able to customize, with one of them being the crosshair. Since the crosshair is part of the reticle, there is no way to change it at this time of writing.

However, in their recent Season 2 Community update announcement, Infinity Ward did state that they will be adding a new UI feature for optics available in MW2. Once the update is released, players will have access for the first time in MW2 to Reticle Previews in both the Store and Gunsmith.

The Gunsmith submenu, dedicated towards all your attachments, camos, and tuning, can be found directly above each weapon, and will be home to this new preview tool as well.

Though this doesn’t nearly compensate for being able to customize your reticles, or crosshairs more specifically, it’s certainly a step in the right direction. And above all, will save you some time testing it out in the firing range.
