Dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2 give you a variety of ways to customize your character’s appearance. But dyes don’t work like you’d expect in Capcom’s RPG. Here’s how you can get your hands on this item and how you can use them.

How to get all dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can purchase dyes at the vendor Alexia next to the Grand Riftstone at Backbattahl for 500 Rift Crystals each. This location can be found right outside Bakbattahl, the capital city of Battahl. Getting into Battahl from Checkpoint Rest Town and its keen guard can take a while as it’s the second region you encounter. If you’re wondering how to get this currency, here’s how to get Rift Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Here’s a list of all the dyes you can get:

  • Red Dye – 500 RC
  • Green Dye – 500 RC
  • Blue Dye – 500 RC
  • Yellow Dye – 500 RC
  • Purple Dye – 500 RC

How to use dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dyes can be used to alter your appearance or your main pawn’s looks in DD2. To use dyes, head to Mettefere’s Cosmetics in Bakbattahl. After a conversation, they will take all the dyes from your inventory and let you customize your character’s hair.

Remember that While Vernworth also has a stylist, Clovis’s Barberie shop won’t let you use dyes. So stick to the one in Bakbattahl. Mettefere’s Cosmetics also gives you more color options for hair, makeup, and tattoos, even without dyes as compared to the character creator in Dragon’s Dogma 2. And here’s how you can change your appearance in the game after creating a character. The Art of Metamorphosis in Dragon’s Dogma 2 from the Vernworth Pawn Guild is another option for altering how you look.

While the regular character creator does have some customization options, these let you tinker with your character even further. You can even try fantasy races like the Drown, orcs, or goblins with the help of these dyes. Just remember that these don’t come cheap.

Save your Rift Crystals for summoning Pawns

500 Rift Crystals per dye is expensive. Consider spending those resources on your squad of pawns instead.

Can you use dyes on armor and gear in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Unfortunately, you cannot use these dyes on armor. This would have been a welcome feature that would enhance your customization options. Currently, there is no such feature in the game. Expect mods to rectify this and offer players additional ways of tweaking their character’s gear.

That covers how to get and use dyes in the game. For more on the RPG’s many threats and vocations, read up on Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and how to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation.
