The Mystic Spearhand is one of the new classes in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and one that we personally love. It combines the use of magic and physical attacks to deal devastating blows to enemies in battle. As a bonus, you even get the ability to pick enemies up and throw them at each other. Here is how to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

✓ Quick Answer

Unlocking the Mystic Spearhand Vocation

To unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation, you need to speak to Sigurd. This can be done in two ways. First, you can speak to him in Melve when the plagued dragon attacks. Second, you can speak to him at his home in Harve. The second option is used if you miss the dragon attack. Once it is unlocked, you can go to the vocational guild to get the class.

When can you unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

The Mystic Spearhand vocation can be unlocked within the first five hours of gameplay. To unlock this class and its weapons, you need to complete the Monster Culling quest for Captain Brant in Vernworth. Once this is done, you will be ready to obtain the Mystic Spearhand class.

How to unlock the Mystic Spearhand class in Dragon’s Dogma 2

After completing a quest for Captain Brant, make your way to Melve. This is the small town that you visit near the start of the game and where you first meet Ulrika. Melve is located in the northern part of the Vermund region near the Borderwatch Outpost.

When you reach Melve, it will be under attack by a dragon with red pustules covering its body. Aid the NPCs of the area in defeating this dragon. Attacking the pustules will deal the most damage. During the fight, you will see a man named Sigurd using the Mystic Spearhand vocation. This will also start the Readvent of Calamity quest. Speak to Sigurd after the fight to unlock the class.

If you wait too long, you will miss this fight. In the event that this happens, you will need to speak to Sigurd at his home in Harve. We recommend fast travelling to the area using a Ferrystone if you have one to save yourself the trek.

Once you reach Harve, head to the far eastern side of the village to find a house atop a hill. This is Sigurd’s home. Speak to him here and it will also unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation. With the vocation unlocked, head to any vocational guild to equip the class and start using it.

How to gain the Mystic Spearhand Maister’s Approval

After reaching Battahl, you can head south to an area called Dragonsbreath Tower. This massive tower is at the top of an even bigger mountain. Climbing to the top of this area will lead you to a campsite where Sigurd is waiting along with the same pustule-covered dragon from Melve.

Talk to Sigurd and he will offer to join you in your fight against this beast. We recommend resting at the campsite prior to fighting the dragon since the fight will be fairly long and difficult. Once you are prepared, head into the tower ruins and navigate the twists and turns until you reach the top where the dragon is waiting.

During the fight, you will want to focus your attacks on the red pustules on the dragon just like you did during the fight in Melve. If you break enough of these, the dragon will fall over and become vulnerable, allowing you and your companions to kick the daylights out of the dragon for the duration.

When the fight is finished, speak with Sigurd and he will gift you the Paladin’s Enigmata Tome. This will allow you to learn the ultimate ability for the Mystic Spearhand called Wild Furie. If you are not given this gift, head back to Harve and speak to Sigurd there. He should gift you the tome. If not, give him some gifts and then return later on.

What is different about the Mystic Spearhand vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

The Mystic Spearhand excels in both ranged and melee combat. With it, you can launch yourself at foes, attack in midair, and deal magick damage. We have been calling this class the “Jedi” class because it also allows you to pick up nearby objects using telekinesis and launch them at foes. You can also throw smaller enemies. This class is very good for dealing with larger boss monsters.
