Play on World Tier 2

If you’re just starting out, you might be tempted to play on the World Tier 1 difficulty. But if you’re willing to give yourself a bit more of a challenge, World Tier 2 is worth your while. Although you’ll fight tougher enemies, you’ll receive 20% more experience, and 15% more gold from drops, helping you progress faster. Diablo 4 tips: The renown menu for Scosglen.

Don’t ignore side-content

Diablo 4 does a good job of levelling you up along with the main story, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore side-content. As well as side quests providing loot and experience, they also contribute to the Diablo 4 Renown system. Each region in the game has its own Renown, which increases based on the content you’ve completed in that region. Completing Renown tiers can net you gold, skill points, and potion upgrades, and will give your account a big boost.

Diablo 4 tips: The player standing in front of a Statue of Lilith on a snowy path.

Seek out Altars of Lilith

Scattered around Sanctuary, you’ll find Altars of Lilith. Interacting with these statues will give you a small permanent stat boost which applies to every character across your account. These statues are found all over Sanctuary, so while you’re out exploring, check out little nooks and crannies that might be hiding one for some easy stat buffs.

Diablo 4 tips: The social menu.

Play with others

Playing in a group with friends will net you all a 10% experience boost, and make taking on some tougher enemies much easier. But if you’re going solo, you can still take advantage of fighting with other players. Out in the world, you might come across other solo players taking on world events and you can jump in and help you, giving you each a 5% experience boost, and getting some easy loot and experience. Look out for any active world events and pop in where you can.

Diablo 4 tips: The location of a dungeon on the map showing an aspect as a reward.

Get some early aspects

Aspects are items which can be applied to your items to give them huge buffs to your stats and abilities. You’ll receive an item with an aspect from completing every dungeon, and early on you should complete the Lost Archive dungeon for a very powerful defensive aspect. Once you’ve got this, look for aspects that complement your build and look to complete dungeons to get them.

Diablo 4 tips: The curiosity vendor menu.

Save your Murmuring Obols

If you’ve completed any events, you might have got yourself some Murmuring Obols. Obols are a currency that you can spend at curiosity vendors for the chance to get some rare loot. Avoid spending any too early though. Each piece of loot is based on your level, and as you level up so quickly in the early-game, you’ll quickly find better gear just by exploring. Save up your obols until around the level 30 mark as you’ll get more value out of them from here.

Diablo 4 tips: The blacksmith salvage menu

Salvage everything

You have two options to deal with unwanted gear. Selling them, or heading to a blacksmith to salvage them, giving you materials that you can use to upgrade your other gear. You won’t need much money until later in the game, so salvage all non-legendary items and store your legendaries for later. Once you reach around level 30, start selling a bit more, balancing selling and salvaging based on what you need at the time.

Diablo 4 tips: The blacksmith upgrade menu.

Upgrade your core gear

As you progress, you’ll start finding items with great stats or aspects that compliment your build. You’ll probably be using these items for a while, so make use of your salvaged materials and upgrade your core gear. Not only does this boost the base stats like armour or damage, but it also improves its bonus stats, and can make some already powerful gear even stronger.

Diablo 4 tips: The jeweller gem crafting menu.

Make use of gems

Some monsters and chests will drop gems. These can be added to sockets on your items to give them some pretty powerful boosts, like increased damage, damage reduction, and more health. Choose the ones that suit your build best, and if you have no slots, a jeweller can add sockets to your items for a price, letting you put gems in even more of your items.

Diablo 4 tips: The skill tree menu.

Respec if you need to

After a few dungeons, you might find that your current build just isn’t working very well. No problem, just Diablo 4 respec. You can refund your skill points and make an entire new build. This is free until level seven, but still incredibly cheap at early levels, so try out new builds and find what works best for you. If you don’t like it, you can always change it again later.
