Fortnite has had many crossovers including with the WWE in the past. Current wrestlers Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair have both entered the Epic Games’ battlefield and so too has future hall of famer and Hollywood megastar, John Cena. But, at this year’s Royal Rumble, one of the current WWE wrestlers donned a ‘Fortnite’ inspired cosplay that has wowed fans as well as confused them.
There is lots to look forward to for fans of Epic Games’ battle royale. The game is coming back to iOS later this year, and the release date for Chapter 5 Season 2 is imminent. Not only is Chapter 5 Season 2 quickly approaching, but leaks also suggest a popular villain may return with a limited-time mode in their honor.
Ever since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has only gotten bigger and better, as well as more popular to the point where it has taken over the world. It can be seen in the countless pop culture products and genres, and it was supposedly represented at this year’s WWE Royal Rumble through cosplay.
Zelina Vega’s Fortnite-inspired cosplay at Royal Rumble 2024
WWE wrestler Zelina Vega wowed fans with her outfit at the Royal Rumble 2024 that took place on January 27th. While everyone loved the outfit, the only issue was that people were confused about what the cosplay was based on. She said on Twitter that ‘they were in Fortnite,’ and guesses in the replies on her Instagram have ranged from Megatron to Singularity to Spire Assassin.
The majority have assumed that it is an inspired back-bling, but, away from her comments about it being based on someone in Fortnite, others initially thought that it was Mercy from Overwatch. Kai’Sa from League of Legends is another popular guess. Judging by comments on Instagram as well as her replies, it’s possible that the outfit may have been a last-minute change as it seems she was initially going to wear orange nail polish and dress up as Goku who has appeared in Fortnite as a crossover skin.
Zelina Vega is renowned for her excellent cosplays. At Royal Rumble 2023, she dressed up as Juri from Street Fighter 6, and she has previously portrayed the Mortal Kombat 9 attire for Jade.
