Wuthering Waves is another gacha game in the mold of Genshin Impact and it has only just recently fully come out for PC and mobile. It has a host of characters that all look amazing, yet most of them have very little substance beneath the pretty exterior. While this is the case for most, many Wuthering Waves fans are in agreement as to who “the best written character” currently is on the roster.
The future of Wuthering Waves is very exciting. A massive announcement suggests a PlayStation release is finally happening, meanwhile, a leak suggests WuWa is getting a big upgrade Genshin Impact fans have craved for years. Not only that, but leaks have shown “beautiful” animations for the official upcoming 1.2 banner characters, Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao.
Fans are excited for the arrival of Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao, and there is hope that the writing will become much better as WuWa progresses. There isn’t a lot of lore and compelling substance to characters right now, but fans feel Jinhsi is the outlier.
Wuthering Waves fans agree Jinhsi is “the best written character”
On the Wuthering Waves subreddit, OP Yapanese_Expert has created a thread titled “The best written character in WuWa“. The post is accompanied by a screenshot of Jinhsi saying, “I want to protect Jinzhou in my own way, as Jinhsi, as a citizen of Jinzhou, and as Jinzhou’s Magistrate”.
Fans love WuWa, but there has been the complaint that its writing is pretty poor with “stilted and unnatural dialogue“. There has also been the argument that people don’t play gacha games for the story as that isn’t the focus.
In regard to Jinshi, many of the replies agree with the OP’s sentiment that she is “the best written character” in the game. One of the replies says, “YESSSSS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER SO FAR. Beautiful design, stunning animations, solid story, great character,” and another reply says, “I was set to pull for Changli, but after seeing her story I’m torn apart. I wanna pull her before she’s gone”.
The only other character who competes with Jinshi in regard to story is Jiyan. Fans say “His quest is actually pretty good” and that they hope Kuro “expand his narrative when Geshu Lin drops”.
While fans agree that Jinshi is “the best written character” in the game, there is the catch that “She is the best written character… because the rest of the cast has little to no writing whatsoever”. Many commenets echo this sentiment saying she’s “the only written character in wuwa” and that “She’s kinda the only character they’ve written a lot about… aside from only Jiyan and Yinlin”.
Players like Jinshi, but there is hope that more characters will receive as much attention as her in the future. We have Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao to look forward to for August and September, and there is hope that they will receive a compelling narrative in addition to their fun gameplay.
