Kuro Games’ Genshin-like open-world adventure Wuthering Waves has begun its steady march to the top of the free-to-play world following its recent release. But, like any new game, it inevitably still has a few growing pains it needs to get past before it can truly be considered a highly polished behemoth. For instance, one of the main issues players have experienced in its early days is the game’s lackluster dialogue, with some going so far as to call it “stilted and unnatural.”
Over on Reddit, user Annual_Bar_8293 was so unimpressed with Wuthering Waves’ writing that they questioned Kuro Games developers’ social skills. “It feels like it was written by a team who’d never had a single conversation with another human being,” they said. Other players commenting below the post felt the same way, as user Spede2 even blasted the game’s English voice-acting after it forced them to switch to the Japanese dub.
Some, however, have pointed out that the dialogue has drastically improved following Kuro Games’ release of its 1.1 update. For those unfamiliar, this recent patch addressed many of the game’s early problems, including performance issues on mobile and the oft-complained-about localization. It’s also worth noting that, in a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Dong, senior producer for Wuthering Waves, revealed the team’s inexperience at handling global releases, leading to the dialogue’s initial poor quality.

However, with the number of complaints rising, the team has started addressing it in two ways: by expanding the size of their localization team and optimizing the localization workflow. So, even though Wuthering Waves still has a ways to go before it can reach the heights of its HoYoverse counterpart, it’s safe to say Kuro Games’ is doing everything it can to turn the game into a consistently enjoyable work of art.
