Wuthering Waves’ anime style and setting are elevated by the dedicated work of the voice actors. These performances are integral to selling the story and helping people buy into the characters and their individual stories and motivations. You’ll spend a lot of time in Wuthering Waves listening to voiced lines, so here’s our complete list of the main English VA cast along with where you might have heard them before. This list is correct as of version 1.1.
Aalto – James Day
Aalto is a four-star character in Wuthering Waves. He plays a role in the main story. He is an information broker from the New Federation, also working as a Black Shores consultant. In terms of voice acting work in games, James Day has only voiced another character in Arknights, another mobile gacha game.
Baizhi – Samantha Dakin
You meet Baizhi fairly early on in the game and she is one of the first free characters you get. As a researcher at Huaxu Academy, is the person who introduces the Rover to combat simulations. You might know Samantha Dakin by her fantastic performance as Adelle in Bravely Default 2, or as Anna Pascal in Triangle Strategy.
Chixia – Harriet Carmichael
Met at the start of the game alongside Yangyang, Chixia is a junior patroller ready to help anyone and everyone in and around Jinzhou City. Of course, the real ones know that Harriet Carmichael voiced Vanea in the phenomenal Xenoblade Chronicles. Harriet has also been a recurring voice in Super Monsters and Dragons: Rescue Riders
Calcharo – Ben Cura
Calcharo is one of the standard 5-star characters on the permanent gacha banner. In terms of the story, he is the leader of a mercenary group called the “Ghost Hounds”. His VA, Ben Cura, is another Arknights alum, also lending his voice to Dying Light 2.
Danjin – Sophie Colquhuon
Danjin is a member of the Midnight Rangers, and very skilled with a sword. According to the game’s official website, Danjin travels the lands refining her knowledge in a quest to find the meaning of good and evil. Outside of WuWa, Sophie Colquhuon also lent her voice to Arknights, which is something of a theme with the VAs in this game.
Encore – Carina Reeves
Encore is another one of the permanent banner 5-star characters, available since the launch of the game. In the story, Encore is followed by her two Woolies while she goes about her business as a consultant from the Black Shores. Carina Reeves, again, will be known by those who played and no doubt loved Xenoblade Chronicles. In Xenoblade, Reeves voices Fiora and does so brilliantly. Reeves is also the English VA for Tataru in Final Fantasy 14.
Female Rover – Jane Jackson
Jane Jackson voices the female main character in Wuthering Waves. This character is known only as the Rover, and you can choose between being male or female when you start a new game. Jane Jackson hasn’t done much voice acting outside of WuWa, being yet another VA in this cast to voice a character in Arknights.
Jiyan – Alex Jordon
Jiyan was the first limited 5-star character added to Wuthering Waves. As far as his place in the story goes, Jiyan is the General of the Midnight Rangers who are stationed in Jinzhou. Alex Jordan was the voice of various characters in Lord of the Rings: Gollum and also played Ozmaldo Selleca in the DioField Chronicle.
Jianxin – Ionna Kimbrook
Jianxin is a Taoist monk in the world of Wuthering Waves. She journeys across a secular land and tries to understand her place in it. Jianxin is also a standard 5-star character available through the permanent banner. Outside of Wuthering Waves, Ioanna Kimbrook has mostly played live-action characters.
Jinhsi – Anna Devlin
Jinhsi was introduced as a playable character in patch 1.1. Jinhsi is the current Magistrate of Jinzhou, making her a pretty important person in terms of the lore. Anna Devlin is another VA on this list who has done more live-action work than games and anime voice work. You might recognise Devlin from her work as Nona in Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space.
Lingyang – Aleksander Varadian
Lingyang is part of the Liondance Troupe, joining the establishment in Jinzhou. Lingyang is another of the standard 5-star characters always available on the permanent banner. He is voiced by Aleksander Varadian, and this may be his first-ever big VA role.
Male Rover – Chase Brown
The Rover’s male counterpart. When you start the game, you can pick between the male or female main character. The Rover is basically a self-insert and you are ostensibly following their story to go through the game. Chase Brown is yet another Arknights VA who is providing a voice in Wuthering Waves. He also provided voices for Lies of P.
Sanhua – Jennifer Armour
Sanhua works as the personal guard of Jinhsi, and she’s someone we meet fairly early on in the story inside Jinzhou. From Soma to Horizon: Forbidden West, to Arknights yet again, Jennifer Armour voices Sanhua and she’s done plenty of work in the voice acting biz.
Taoqi – Clare Louise Connolly
Taoqi is part of Jinzhou’s Ministry of Development, charged with overseeing the border defence for Jinzhou, the main city located in Huanglong. She is voiced by Clar Louise Connolly, who has also provided her voice for Bayonetta: Origins and the 2014 Game of Thrones game.
Verina – Heather Nicol
Verina is all about plants, but she somehow ended up working for the Pioneer Association expedition team from the New Federation. Verina is a character who can be pulled from the standard banner as one of the permanent 5-star units available. Heather Nicol voices Verina, and you might recognise her as Goldenglow from Arknights or Orleya from Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space.
Yangyang – Rebecca Yeo
Yangyang is one of the first characters we meet as our Rover. She’s a fierce defender and patroller, part of the Midnight Rangers, serving as our guide and introduction to the world when starting a new game. Rebecca Yeo was also the voice of Cliffheart from Arknights.
Yinlin – Naomi McDonald
Yinlin is yet another Jinzhou Patroller we meet in Wuthering Waves. These characters are typically fighters and are in charge of making sure monsters stay well away from the towns and places where people dwell. If you’ve got a keen ear, you might recognise Naomi McDonald as one of the voices of the Tarnished in Elden Ring you can choose. She was also the voice of Marie in Deracine, another game by FromSoft.
Yuanwu – Adam Diggle
Yuanwu is the humble owner of a gym that specialises in boxing. He is voiced by Addam Diggle, who has had plenty of roles, most recently being the voice of Dror Ragzlin from Baldur’s Gate 3, and the psychotic Arcanist, Vigintio, from Bravely Default 2.
